I wasn’t able to have my mebeverine 20 mins before my dinner like suggested online and on my prescription due to eating soon before my tea. So I have waited an hour to let my food digest some what. Am I okay to take it now if I don’t eat for another 20 mins??? No where online is giving me an answer haha
thanks

hi was originally prescribed same as u , three times a day 20 mins before eating
After a few years on a prescription review I said I always forget does it matter . He said a lot of people take as and when and that’s fine . So now if I’m having a large meal I will try to remember to take before , but other then that I take whenever I feel bloated , sick, cramps etc before after or in between meals
that’s great! I’ve taken it for 2 weeks now and have found that it’s helped for the most part but today it didn’t really do much for me, starting to question whether I should just use it for flare ups now! I still have symptoms tho so idk
Hi I take mine in the morning, rarely taken before a meal. But this is just me, so it definitely works if i run out of pills wow the pain is intense, so they do work I take colofac 200 MR
thanks for responding! I’ve taken it for 2 weeks now and it has been making it better but I’ve been experiencing headaches since taking it and today I had really bad stomach cramps which the medicine didn’t combat so idk if I’ve taken it for too long at once or not???
To be honest I have been taking Mebeverine for many years, I always make sure I take the first one in the morning but apart from that I don't always manage 20 mins before a meal it depends on what i'm doing & time allowing i,e, if i'm at work etc.
I do try however to take it 20 mins or more after a meal, I guess it depends on your routine & what your body is telling you.
I took Mebeverine for many years and took it when I remembered!! However stopped it a few months ago and it has made no difference at all - obviously just not helping me at all so hope you have more luck.
I always consult the British National Formulary for guidance on taking medications. Under Mebeverine it quotes the following:
"Adult
135–150 mg 3 times a day, dose preferably taken 20 minutes before meals."
I've highlighted "preferably" because I think it's relevant to your issue, and suggests that it is not mandatory; it probably simply works better that way.
If you need any more guidance on medications, then the BNF website can be found at: bnf.nice.org.uk/
thanks guys for the reply’s! I’ve been taking the mebeverine for 2 weeks now. Heard that that’s how much you should take it for at the start but then only to use it for flare ups. I don’t know though, I’ve had really bad stomach cramps and nausea today so dunno whether I should carry it on past the 2 weeks
