Overlooked for vaccine, apparently not vulnerable !
My husband has eosinophilic asthma, takes fostair 200/6, montelukast, flixonaise and more. He has just finished a course of prednisone. He went to Dr last week and asked about vaccine and was told that because he hasn't had a hospital admission in the past 3 months he wasn't classed as severe so

Emergency Consultant Appointment tomorrow
Dear Wise Ones, my consultant is seeing me tomorrow as following my last phone appointment if I had difficulties again with breathing etc he wanted to see me, any additional info I can take with me would be brilliant. Tips for dealing with Drs who don't get peak flow is personal...
I've finally got my (re-)referral appointment tomorrow but unfortunately with the same doctor who told me I needed to reduce my meds as my peak flow was too high 🤦🏻♀️, this was despite needing ventolin a few times a week and having quite large daily and day to day variability in my peak flow. She

EIB/Asthma not normal symptoms
Anybody out there who has been diagnosed with Exercise induced Asthma but does not have any of the normal symptoms ie wheezing, shortness of breath or tightness of chest. I just become strained inside and my peak flow goes down to about 450.

One step forward, two steps back
Well, after reducing prednisolone from 40 to 20mg, then having to go back to 25mg as my peak flow dropped, I’m now back on 30mg for at least one or two weeks! The gp has spoken to the respiratory team at the hospital and they say they wouldn’t do anything different at the moment ☹️. On top of that,

C.O.P.D. and thyroid.
My mother died 10 years ago of C.O.P.D. I am certain she had a thyroid problem all her life but it was never addressed. I have asthma so it seems, my lung capacity isn't very good, checking the Peak Flow meter it is now much worse from the last measure a year ago. Wondering if I have the beginnings

Lung function test results from Sept as follows, but what exactly does it mean? I know the resps are ridiculously high had lots of ECG's, and constantly tachycardic hence 1 diagnosis of post covid syndrome, and breathing pattern disorder (BPD) which can be with asthma and a symptom of post covid.

8 puffs of Fostair 200/6 a day - really?
I’m in the sixth week of oral prednisolone for asthma - tapering down 5mg a week from 40mg starting dose. Annoyingly, when I got down to 20mg, my peak flow started to drop so the doctor told me to go back up to 25mg and also to double the Fostair to 8 puffs a day. Is that a normal dose - I thought 4

Why is my breathing suddenly so bad?
I have had asthma for years but although I admit I generally haven't taken my preventer regularly I have felt very comfortable. Suddenly my symptoms have become severe. No cough, just tight and unable to breathe easily. When it first started it was terrifying as my chest, diaphragm and ribs felt exhausted

I’ve been on Fostair MART for nearly 2 months and gradually my cough has got less and my breathlessness went away. Yesterday and today I e felt a bit breathless and I took an extra puff on my inhaler, but it hasn’t really helped. Should I take the maximum 8 puffs again (I did this for two weeks when

Well overall it has been a good week, although it has been “b****y” freezing as my mother would say. I often wondered why my mother would swear every other word but say as children we were not allowed to. Do not get me wrong she never used very foul language, just the “b” words. I soon found I had

Steroid Inhalers Aid Covid Recovery
An article in The Guardian today has an explanation of why asthma sufferers were not at so much at risk of hospitalisation with Covid as we were told at the beginning of the pandemic, Our steroid inhalers protected us from the worst of it! I must say I felt that, and the week’s course of steroid tablets

Very little variation in peak flow during flare-ups - why, and anyone else?
Hi, I have had asthma for 15+ years, mod-severe for 1.5 years. In the last 7months have had 3 rescue courses of pred and been changed from Fostair 200/6 2puffs twice a day to Atectura 125/260 1puff once daily by my consultant (which hasn’t helped). What seems strange to me is that I never have great

Asthma RA thank you
Just a quick update to say thanks for those that gave me so many tips and things to do and sort Thursday. Getting a peak flow tube has already made me realise how poor my asthma is right now but also my understanding of asthma and how to control it is too weak. Been thinking it was RA issues as well

Pregnancy and montelukast
Hi everyone, would love to know your thoughts on this. Originally getting pregnant and discussing this with one of my GPs, they were fine with me carrying on with normal medication (seritide 125 2x2 and montelukast). However I then spoke to another GP at the practice who is more specialist in asthma
