SPIRONOLACTONE . WHEN CAN I STOP TAKING IT?
I'm eager to know others experience and advice about Spironolactone. I was prescribed it 2 years ago when I had Ascites. I have never had a repeat of Ascites since that time, have undergone surgery successfully unrelated to liver issues and had no problems post General Anaesthetic. In short I have been

Struggling to regulate emotions
Hi all,I am aware that after a frontal lobe TBI emotions get confused but is this usual 4 years down the road?? After a TBI in early 2018 my Husband displayed something of a personality change and having read a lot about his incident we understood what to kind of expect. He would manically laugh or suddenly

Constipation relief
What a relief to be regular after years of constipation. I didn’t realise that my diet was contributing to this condition. For around 2 years I ate almost daily, 2 boiled eggs for breakfast and a daily banana sometimes two. I have been prescribed Laxido and find it difficult to regulate . After walking

Coping with heat
I need your advice my friends. We live in the north of England and rarely get a heatwave but this summer we had 2 and my HWP, who is in his 29th year of diagnosis, really suffered. I looked on HU and saw this can be a problen in PD. I told him what I had read and dealt with it with fans and cold packs

First post in around two years
I just thought I would drop in and say hi, and good to see some familiar names still around. For six months when I was here previously I tried my best to assist and support others and their queries as a survivor and have continued to do so elsewhere but to a more limited extent. Covid being less

nefopam
Hi, I just wondered if anyone has been prescribed Nefopam by their GP? Just spoke to my GP and they said they are unable to prescribe it in primary care….does that mean it needs to come from a consultant to get a prescription? I’m confused as it’s not an opioid, it’s not addictive and doesn’t have

End of Life Memories
Thinking back to a year ago I was busy trying to turn an unused room filled with a lifetime of boxes into a habitable, useable bedroom for the arrival of a hospital bed before the hospital would allow mum to come home.

Should I insist on cortisol test or am I a steroid 'junky '?
Feeling very low at the moment. Hopefully on my final leg of the PMR journey and have been on less than 5mgs for nearly a year. First of all, my GP tells me I should not need pred once down to 5mgs or below as my adrenals provide 5mgs naturally (totally ignoring my protest that over 2 years on steroids

Is trauma a cause of IBS?
Warning: I discuss trauma and abuse. I have never had a satisfactory explanation of my IBS-D. All I know is that it is triggered mostly by stress and anxiety. But can trauma cause IBS? I ask this because of two reasons. Firstly, years ago a doctor told me that they didn't know the cause of IBS and

Early Christmas Gift 🎁
I had a real blessing last night!I dreamed about my late grandmother (who was British and helped to raise me). As I saw her, we walked toward each other and she had a big precious smile on her face! Before I reached her, I knew it was a dream, but I woke up with such JOY 🎄🎄🎄 She loved the holidays

PMR auto-immune diseases and Physical Stress
Does anyone have any good information on this? In 2019 after a 10 day period of extremely heavy physical work I developed Guillaume Barre Syndrome and was hospitalised for 4 weeks and had to learn to walk, feed myself again etc etc. I was 73 strong and fit (maybe??) In 2020 after I spent a week wheelbarrowing

colonoscopy fear.
Can anyone tell me why you can’t have a general anaesthetic to have a colonoscopy? I have asked the Doctor this and he said well you can be sedated. But this is not what I want. He said they need you slightly awake to listen to their instructions to move your leg etc. I think this is rubbish.America

Coping with a Vestibular Disorder
‘Supermarket Syndrome’ For many people with a vestibular disorder, a trip to the grocery store can turn into a battle with dizziness. The lights, rows of shelves, and crowds of people can trigger symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, and light-headedness. If this is something you struggle with, this

How long till the dripping tap causes the bucket to overflow?
I’ve been going pretty well on my three weekly TCZ injections and have managed to get down to 0.5mgs pred after a couple of hiccups … it’s taken over 2 years to get here. I remained on 0.75mgs for 3 weeks, timed with TCZ dose, but now I’m really nervous about the next drop. I feel fine, should I drop

Recent deterioration
I have an autoimmune liver disease called Nodular Regenerative Hyperplasia. This is caused by a primary immune condition called Common Variable Immune Deficiency. I have deteriorated slowly over 10 years and the phrase “ advanced liver disease” was used for the first time in September. A few weeks

Cannot be bothered syndrome!
Hi, Having reduced my pred dose from 20mg, i have been on 7mg for 3 weeks. I had some initial tiredness and sugar craving. That seemed to improve but have been having some low mood and cannot be bothered syndrome and get around to it tomorrow. Is this a common symptom and does it pass? Thanks I

Counseling Support
I was wondering what experience anyone has had with counseling? I’m coming up on a year NED, which I’m thankful for but have been experiencing increased anxiety symptoms. My cancer center offers up to 20 sessions free I start next week, I’ve never been before curious.
