total thyroidectomy, 20 years ago
Hi I’m I 55-year-old white male. I had a total thyroidectomy approximately 20 years ago it was removed because it grew very large and was choking me , it had grown down into my chest cavity, and also around my trachea. I take 150 µg of levothyroxine per day. Apparently I’m in the normal range. I find

TSH post levo raise - how low can you go?
Hello again, I've been on a mini trial of raising my levo by 12.5mcg / day for 8 weeks in hope of raising T3 and losing a bit of weight. Is TSH of 0.13 (0.27-4.2) too low? I feel great and weight has been going down gently. The Dr's report from Medichecks says only if I experience overactive symptoms

What do I do next? Is this T3 results low?
Hi all, just had my latest results from Medichecks, TSH is low, T3 and T4 normal. Tests were done 9am following the usual recommended protocol. The comments with the results suggests I'm perhaps over medicated and could be at risk of osteoporosis due to the low TSH. Is that right? They suggest perhaps

Advice on iron status
Hi lovely people, I was hoping to get some advice on my iron status. A bit of background, I have just recently increased levo to 88mcg a couple of weeks ago, and was on 75mcg before that. So, I am aware that my thyroid hormone is still too low. It's a slow process getting docs to increase! My question

Early Pregnancy & Hashimoto
I have just had my first ever positive HPT after 5 years of TTC and 2 failed IVF cycles. I have calculated that I am approximately 6 weeks pregnant. I was diagnosed with hashimoto Thyroditis roughly 2 years ago and have been on 100mcg levothyroxine since. My last bloods came back normal in early November

Anyone else feel the same?
Each time I have to go through the process of buying NDT I go through a series of emotions.1. Angry that in this day and age I have to buy meds from Thailand 2. That the NHS won't let us have the meds we need 3. The cost if these meds, how will I afford once I've retired 4. The fact the cost is highly

Naturally high vitamin B12
I have had a few tests over the last few years which include Vitamin B12. I am worried that I may not be transporting it to cells as it is very high fir someone does not take supplements. See photo? Everything I question this the doctor just says we'll that's good isn't it. Is it? From what I read

Reassurance about taking T3 during pregnancy
Hi All I’m just looking for some reassurance if anyone else has continued on T3 during pregnancy. When I tested positive my ft4 was 17.5 (12-22) but my ft3 tanked from 4.4 to 3.1(3.1-6.8) and all my hypo symptoms were terrible. (Previous ft4 was17.1 and ft3 4.4 so I was still probably under medicated

Tsh / t4 help
Hi My GP was concerned about my blood results and the effects of my medication still don't seem to be working as I am still very tired and have not lost any of that weight I gain. I am on levo 50mcg and lio T3 30mcg. But my tsh is still really low and if I add more t4 it will drop further. My results

Liothyronine prescribing in England: costs versus need (and petition)
A short but pertinent comment in The Lancet about costs of Liothyronine - note petition organiser Dr Peter Taylor is one of the signatories. Liothyronine prescribing in England: costs versus need Adrian Heald Mike Stedman Buchi Okosieme

Elevated TSH
My recent blood tests read: TSH 36.7 , freeT3 3.3 and T4 13.7. I was alarmed when I saw my TSH. My GP would recommend increasing the T4 , but it seems ok to me. And when it goes up anywhere past 15, I start to get horrible symptoms. E.G. fast heartrate. I have been seeing a private endo. as I

Ivf loss - due to lack of TSH/ Hypothyroidism monitoring? Any advice appreciated :)
Hello all, very useful & supportive group this! :) thanks in advance for any thoughts.. My partner has hypothyroidism, and takes levothyroxine for it. She had 1st ever IVF transfer (frozen) in November, which became positive but sadly didn’t get past 4 weeks. Out of curiosity, she asked her GP to test

Considering NDT
Hello everyone, It’s been a while since I have posted! I wish I could say it’s because I have been doing really well on my thyroid journey. I have been very unwell, picking up infections and having allergic reactions to antibiotics that left me with swelling around my eye and now a really ‘nice’ scar

Help with lab results.
My most recent lab results are posted above. I had my endocrinologist add the additional tests that were recommended. Can someone please read my results and let me know what you think. Note, I was taking 75 mcg of levothyroxine earlier this year and after my March labs my doctor bumped it up to 88 mcg

Update following long-awaited GP appointment for results of Thyroid blood test
Following my last post, I have finally had my GP appointment. I thought it was solely to discuss my annual Thyroid blood test but it seems they had also tested for cholesterol. Had a long lecture about high LDL and the risk. I explained that I couldn't really do any more to improve it as I already

Sugar Alcohols Ruined My Health: Learn from My Mistakes
Given the number of members who are intolerant to Teva levothyroxine, this video might be of some interest. Many suspect it is the mannitol content of Teva levothyroxine that lies behind the intolerance. After all, there were also many complaints around the world as Merck have slowly move from lactose

Recently diagnosed
Hello lovely people. I’ve been reading posts for a few weeks now, having discovered this amazing site. I was diagnosed a month ago and have been taking Levothyroxine 50mcg for 3 weeks. I’ve put all my blood results on my bio and am thinking I probably should have put them on a post? Anyway, basically
