I am intending to arrange a follow up private blood test following a dose increase and change of Levo brand 6 weeks ago. I also changed from taking Levo in the morning to bedtime. The previous test I had was a Medicheck Advanced Thryoid finger prick test but I would welcome advice as to whether I should have the advanced test again or the more basic TFT which is cheaper. Following advice received on here I also began B12 and Vit D+K2 and Basic B along with the folic acid prescribed by GP. I would also welcome suggestions of other test which may be useful, maybe cortisol? I’m trying to cover all bases to keep one step ahead of my GP as, so far, I am starting to feel more human on the changes but still feel there is a little way to go to be 100%.

Retest advice please
Im so glad you are feeling a lot better SpringerMom! 🦋
I would definitely test TSH, FT3 and FT4 levels 8 weeks after being on a new dose (some members do retest at 6 weeks but I’ve found waiting 8 weeks more helpful in finding a ‘sweet spot’ where I feel well)
I personally would leave it 3 months before retesting key vitamins, as it can take time for levels to improve. Once I achieved an optimal level, I still test x2 year and adjust accordingly. Personally I’ve found I don’t need as much Vit D3/ K2 in the summer months.
I’ve also found that I’m better making low & slow adjustments in medication (think tortoise not hare!) - adding only 12.5mcg Levo at a time, alternate days at first, until well tolerated. However, other members report being fine adjusting in larger steps.
Thank you Buddy, that confirms my initial thought to just test TSH and FT3 and 4. I have actually been on the dose increase for nearly 8 weeks but only changed brand 6 wks ago. By the time I order the test it will be closer to the 8 wk mark. I am also going to request an NHS one from my GP but will probably only be TSH.
