Hi all,I've decided to start T3. Can you please advise me how to introduce it/how much to reduce levo by? Also, I've read posts which have recommended that Thybon henning is a good option that I can get from roseway labs.
December result
TSH 0.012 (0.27-4.2)
T3 4.8 (3.1- 6.8)
T4 22.3 (12-22)

A small Levo reduction (eg 25mcg) is usually advised before adding Liothyronine but as your FT4 is slightly over range you might consider reducing by more. How much Levothyroxine are you currently taking Cassav?
Members usually then add 5mcg Liothyronine (working up to 10mcg once well tolerated). Personally I like going ‘low and slow’ and I adjusted slowly adding 2.5mcg to the initial 5mcg. I find a pill cutter useful in this. Adding small amounts means you don’t miss your ‘sweet spot’ where you feel most well.
I understand that one has to have a prescription for T3 from an Endo in order to obtain it-I had a private prescription for 3 month 5mcg trial, and he put liothyronine 5mcg on the rx, and Roseway Labs wanted £456 for it, as they said the prescription was for the generic form, and not a brand-surely any brand could then be provided? They said it had to be a specific named brand before they would fulfil the prescription! Any advice would be good!
If you search on this forum, people have been able to get thybon henning 100 tablets for 60 pounds from roseway pharmacy. I have an appointment with their pharmacist prescriber (55 pounds) and so I will ask for this specific brand to be prescribed. I think others have also had a prescription (private, I think) fulfilled at roseway pharmacy but I'm not sure if it has to specify thybon henning 100 tablets on the prescription. Perhaps start a new post asking others to advise who have used the service. Oh and happy new year! 😊

£456 ! My God this is rip off !

Thanks! Yes, a rip off-but am I wrong in thinking the GENERIC type is not a specific brand? I assumed a generic was made unlicensed and not one of the named brands. The Endo told me I had to have a brand that the GP could prescribe IF, after the trial period, it is deemed that I need it. So presumably it then has to be a branded make of tablet? If so, what brand do I need? I have 5mcg tablets at the moment, which are more expensive than the 20mcg which others suggest, because it specified 5mcg on the prescription!
I think in the end I paid £123 for the 100x5mcg tablets.
Am I right in thinking that you don’t have a prescription for T3 and that the prescriber at Roseway has the ability to provide you with one (for a fee)? I’d be really interested to hear how your phone consultation goes, good luck with it! Regarding Thybon Henning: have you heard good things about it? I started Tiromel in October and wonder whether it’s right for me. I’m awaiting test results so will be interested to to see what my levels are. It could be that I’m still massively undermedicated - I’m only on 9mcg of T3 (plus 62.5mcg of Levo).
Yes that's right; I don't have a prescription for T3. Roseway labs have a pharmacist prescriber who provides the prescription. Thank you😊! Although, I may actually get a prescription for thybon henning from a thyroid uk approved endo if I can get an appointment sooner than the 2 weeks I have to wait for roseway labs. I'm rather impatient to start my T3 journey! I've read posts on here about people doing well on Tiromel too. Oh yes once you get your test results you'll have a better idea😊. I'm waiting for my 4-point cortisol test. I find the waiting for test results a strange sort of excitement or is it just me😄?
I know what you mean! Are you waiting on Regenerus saliva test results? I used them in late last year, the results came through quicker than expected 🤞🏼
Thanks for the fulsome response, I’d love to hear how you get on with your appointments, either with Roseway or an endo.
In the meantime, best of luck with the saliva test, I hope the results are illuminating.
Yes I'm waiting for the regenerus saliva test. I really hope they are processed quickly but with it being the holidays it may take longer perhaps. You're very welcome😊. Sure, I'll let you know how the consultation goes but I'm not really expecting that much from it really; I just want my T3! I just wish I hadn't waited so long to test my cortisol. I really need to unravel the reason/reasons for my sleep issues: cortisol-related, t4 being too high or not enough t3🙄.
