I have not had headaches on any make of levothyroxine - but I'm sure some members have reported issues with some makes.
helvella's medicines documents (UK and Rest of the World) can be found here:
helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines
helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.
This link takes you to a page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones.
The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrix for tablets, oral solutions and liothyronine available in the UK.
Headaches common when hypothyroid and/or on inadequate dose levothyroxine
How much levothyroxine are you taking
How long on this dose
What are your most recent thyroid and vitamin results
What vitamin supplements are you taking
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
Testing options and includes money off codes for private testing
I had constant headaches when undermedicated on Levo.I have read on here of Teva not agreeing with some people.I contacted a local independent pharmacy and I only get Accord brand now.Could be worth doing that if you want consistency with particular brand.
I’ve found I only have headaches when my t4 levels are too high.
I only use Accord and use a pill cutter to amend dosage ( currently 100 x 3 days rest 75 ) so I split my 50 mg in half to make 75 as I won’t use anything other than accord. No headaches. Try keeping to one brand.
I had problems with Teva, mainly just not seeming to work so well on me. No problems at all with my Levo of choice, Mercury Pharma, apart from supply issues. Boots are the only one who will guarantee me MP.
