UTIs and Vaginal Atrophy
Good morning. I normally post on the PMR forum but today I'm seeking advice about a UTI which has not cleared up despite two courses of antibiotics. The GP says that I have some vaginal atrophy and wants me to take vaginal estriol. I was prescribed 3 days of Nitrofurantoin without a urine test. After

Is it worth doing pernicious anemia test with active B12 of 68?
I'm working on getting my levels of B12, folate, ferritin and D up to ideal levels, if I can, for my thyroid. I recently got a B12 result from monitor my health of 68 pmol/L (range 38-210). I have read that you can still have B12 deficiency even if your B12 is around my level (I heard over 70 is needed

T3 initiation and fatigue
Recently started T3, keeping T4 steady, after careful analysis and review of my labs, dosage, timings and supplements. I am feeling quite fatigued (not sleepy) since first day of initiation. I have seen one post where many people have complained of this, but not with any explanation or a follow up

Running low on iron
I have been put on Ferrous Sulphate but I can’t use it. My blood test for ferritin is 44 ug/L & it is only that high because I ate red meat I did do in desperation because the test last year was 10ug/L. I am vegetarian & I have great difficulty eating meat it seems to be hard to process for me. Anyhow

How much T3 is too much?
Hi. I was talking to a friend a few days ago & we started a conversation about T3 She self sources hers & told me she takes 100mcg once in the morning. I then asked about her Thyroxine dose which she told me is also 100mcg. IShe has never reduced it & didn’t even know that she should/could. I was

Back Trauma significantly worsening RLS - anyone else?
Running through some posts on this board, I followed a thread to this website: https://www.rlshelp.org/. Within it, there is a section where he writes, "There have been many anecdotal reports of patients developing RLS (or having very significant worsening of their pre-existing mild RLS) after surgery

Supplementation?
Hello all, I normally write on the thyroid site because I have Hashimotos, but today I am writing to the hearties among us regarding my husband. He has had two mini strokes in the past, one was called a TIA and the other was called a mini stroke. His first one was twenty years ago and the second one

Serum Folate not improving
Hi, recently started the vitamin/mineral optimisation process, along with T3 introduction. B12 has improved significantly since taking 1200 ug for 3 weeks. But Folate has stayed at 11 (range 7 to 35). Taking L-methylfolate 400ug) Does Folate take a longer time to improve? Vitamin D is improving as

Feeling desperate
I'm feeling very low at the moment, and quite isolated. I'm hoping to get some advice here. I'm a 45 year old male, and have had Hashimoto's since my early 20s. After a terrible few years on thyroxin I found NDT and on the whole have been relatively well on it. However, since around 2019 I've had bouts

How to get an accurate T3 reading with bloods?
Ive asked a similar question before, regarding blood testing for T4/T3 and realised for years I was having a blood sample done a few hours after I had taken my Levo upon waking up. People on here then said to have the bloods done that morning before taking T4, to get a more accurate reading. Since then

Ferritin 52, hashimoto’s and post menopausal
My ferritin is 52 and I’ve just gone 12 months without a period. Also, I have hashimoto’s and a year ago my antibodies were >1000. Shouldn’t my ferritin be high as I assume I have inflammation because of hashimoto’s? A year ago my ferritin was 48, haemoglobin 134 and iron panel fine.
