Rather scared. What does this mean?
As confirmed in my bio,I went into persistent af in April after 17 years of problems. At this stage my heart was fine , my last echo was clear. I had a chest X-ray in dec which showed no problems. My heart rate was 120-130 and I was assured this was fine/ normal despite feeling increasingly breathless

bnp level high, breathlessness and fluid in lungs. What does this mean?
hello everyone. I have posted relatively frequently, most recently because my weight loss surgery was cancelled due to high heart rate(120-130) in persistent af and breathlessness. The gp gave me additional bisoprolol which brought hr down to about 90. Breathlessness has continued, possibly due to

AF and Bariatric Surgery
my cardiologist has referred me to a bariatric clinic. My BMI is just under 33 right now. I have underlying cardiomyopathy, and the cardiologist thinks ablation carries too much risk. So I expect that bariatric surgery is a potential solution in this case. According to a medical study I found,

Surgery cancelled
Hello. I have posted before about being overweight with AF and the fact that I am too heavy for an ablation. I have been on a weight loss pathway with the nhs for 5 years culminating in weight loss surgery booked for yesterday. The surgery organisers had spoken to my cardiologist and confirmed that

Why it is important to advocate for yourself
I have been on this journey for many years and have shared most of my experience. I want to share the latest snafu, because it is so infuriating. I went through the transplant evaluation in 2021. Completed all the tests and was told this: My BMI was too high and that on the nuclear test, they found

Liothyronin T3 and insulin resistance
I’ve been doing some research as my blood sugar levels (measured by HbA1C) have been persistently high despite exercise, low carb
diet
,
weight
loss
and muscle gain. Prompted by the very wise SlowDragon that T3 can cause high sugars, I decided to delve deeper.

A case study post bariatric surgery
For anyone who has access to twitter, this case study posted yesterday might be of some interest. Probably as much for the discussion as the original case. (Don't get too excited! It is just another case where the origination of the problem doesn't get blamed. As I see it, the cause was iatrogenic and

Morning all, finally my turn to share that after an angst-filled pregnancy my healthy little boy was born at 38+4 by ECS on 30/06/23 🥰🎉☺️ We overcame vanishing twin syndrome, a high risk pregnancy due to advanced maternal age, the risks of a pregnancy post bariatric surgery, low lying placenta resulting

Follow Up With Dr
I finally saw my Dr yesterday regarding the report from my fibroscan in April , (quick recap: 360cap/21.5kpa….bmi 40…..gastro advised bariatric surgery and nothing else) I told my dr that there is no way I would have major surgery and put anaesthetic through my already bad liver, she agreed and said

Newly diagnosed along with other issues. Due to weight loss surgery.
I’m just so lost. Glad I found this site. I’ve been searching info non stop for a few days and have more questions than answers. I had weight loss surgery 10 years ago. Not your traditional surgery, I had a duodenal switch. 80% of my stomach was removed then my intestines were rerouted. Malabsorption

finally heard from gastroenterologist
hi everyone, I finally received my letter this morning regarding my fibroscan, the letter said that my kpa was 21.5 which is in the cirrhotic brackets, the iq median was 28% therefore the accuracy could be debateable, that with the high bmi the procedure was perhaps quite challenging, the cap was confirmed

refused surgery because of bmi.
hi. Just as the title says really. I have been diagnosed with lipoedema stage 3 for years now. It has got worse as I go through menopause, but the worst problem is that I have heart problems which they won’t treat until I lose weight, also knee problems and the nhs won’t operate. Worse still I am due

HI I have just joined this group in the hope that it will help me achieve my weight loss goals. I feel like I need to be able to chat with people who are going through the same as me and who will understand my struggles without any judgement. I am in a really down phase at the moment and am struggling

hypothyroidism ?
I’ve not felt myself for awhile . Heavy more frequent periods , tiredness , not losing weight all of a sudden ( when I had bariatric surgery ). Had private blood tests which showed higher than normal levels of prolactin and low folate levels . Vitamin D was fine probably because I’m taking high strength
