Nitrofurantoin - good or bad?
Not sure that this is posted in the best place, but I don't seem to be able to access any other links atm. I have been prescribed this antibiotic for traces of blood in urine just over 2 days ago. 50mg to be taken at night. Only on the third dose so it's early days, but had quick urine test done

So my sister has just found that she has haemochromatosis...
I've nagged her to follow up on her high ferritin results for the last year or so, though GP seemed disinterested with it above 700 so I sent her to give blood which bought it down to 400. Since then we have successfully got her GP to acknowledge her Hypothyroidism and prescribe T4 and I got her to

Starting T3 - advice please
I am fortunate to have been allowed a trial of T3 through the NHS (in Scotland) Can I ask for some advice / could anyone link to some helpful posts around starting T3? I am currently on 100mcg Levo. This is being reduced to 50mcg with 5mcg of Liothyronine twice a day (12 hours apart - so 7:30am and

Just been diagnosed with Hashimoto's and quite a good positive she said 1260.
Hi All Just wanted to thank everyone for the amazing advice on this group. As I explained before I've had vertigo/dizziness and lots of other symptoms for nearly 2 years now. With loads of advice from this page with regards getting private blood tests done, pushing my Gp even though they said I do

Feeling pathetic...
Sitting at the hospital in the midst of a synacthen test and feeling sorry for myself. So I thought I'd vent on here to a group of lovely folk who understand what it's like to appear normal on the outside but struggling on the inside! Like most on here I hate having to admit I can't do what I used to

Lab Cut Backs (blood testing)!
I've read on here numerous times about people being refused T3 tests because "we're not allowed to test that any more" etc etc. Clearly appalling when trying to get a full picture of what's going on with your thyroid. I've just spoken to the GP about some other blood tests I'm having done tomorrow (

Levothyroxine stopped postpartum
Hi all, new here šDecember 2022 I was feeling pretty rubbish, really low mood, spaced out and just generally unwell. I went to my GP and my bloods came back borderline underactive. In February I found out I was pregnant, during routine bloods I had a phonecall from the hospital saying I needed to

Advice on recent blood tests
I've included the last three sets of blood tests, all done at the same lab, fasting in the morning. Question is whether an increase in T3 is warranted. My new Endo thinks I can go from 15mcg to 20mcg which will help with my fatigue. I have been on 15mcg for a few years and was doing well, but fatigue

Why all going wrong always with me š
Today is my 10dpt of 5dt. Did the urine pregnancy test and showed up negativeš. I used the strips that can measure hcg more than 25u/ml. Not sure whether hcg quantity was there to detect or Iām not pregnant. But this time I was confident the way my symptoms showed up and expected the implantation

I persevered in hope after my BFN last Sunday thinking it was too early and did another 3 days of tabs and pessaries to take me through to the full 14 days but did a blood test pregnancy test today and still shows BFN so thatās our third icsi round over for us. Not sure if the doc will be able to shed

High Leukocytes in urine
So blood tests have come back as above and I have a feeling this has been going on for some time, but not actually had a urine sample test in the past few years. In fact the only urine test was because of discharge from vagina, thought to be thrush which is now being treated. So thrush can cause

I donāt suffer as badly as many people do but maybe

T3 Trial continued
Medichecks 20 March 2024 History:
Hypothyroid (after RAI in c2004)
Spent 2023 improving folate, B12, Vit D although ferritin still poor. Came off PPIs and now take Gaviscon twice daily. Gastritis issues ongoing though. Officially a poor converter (dud DIO2) so really wanted to try T3 Gluten

Is an Alkaline Phosphate level of 71 (UK) good? Was put on steroids to deal with newly diagnosed PMR and they fell by 20 units in 2 weeks!

TSH is still suppressed (no surprise) CRP is .983 despite me having been a bit under the weather recently and recovering from a broken

Berberine and iron?
Hi, So glad to have found this wonderful forum! I am a 74 year female who recently started taking pregabalin for RLS. I just got back my ferritin level and it is 12. I will order some iron and would like to know how many mg is a good dose. Also, I started taking niacin 500mg daily for my cholesterol

hypothyroid to hyperthyroid
Iām currently on Liothyronine only 40mcg daily. My endocrinologist sent me for a blood test 3 weeks ago and I got a letter from her today saying that my T3 is high indicating I am overactive. She never supplied me with any figures on this letter so I have no idea what my levels are now. She has suggested
