Hello everyone

Just received new blood results and if anyone can give advice I would be very grateful!

Taking 125mcg Levo that was taken at 08.30 Sunday morning. Also split my 12.5mcg T3 dose one at 08.30 and the other half at 21.30 on the Sunday.Took my bloods at 08.00 the following day Monday

Going by my results it looks all very well but I’m still not feeling the best.Chronic insomnia and fatigue plus anxiety

Can you repost the results in comments. They might not be so small and blurry then.

Test done only 10 1/2 hours after last meds so may not give true reading. Think it's recommended to leave 24hr gap.T4 is 91% and T3 83%.My most recent results were very similar to yours and I slightly decreased my Levo dose which did the trick but as I said I'm not sure if you have left enough time before taking the test.

jacobite33 profile image
jacobite33 in reply toSovietSong

Is it not around 10 hours between T3 doses?

SovietSong profile image
SovietSong in reply tojacobite33

Not sure. You may be right. I've always waited 24 hours anyway. If the 10 hours was OK then I think you need to reduce the T4 dosage.

Hi, sorry I don't know if your male or female but if you are female could you possibly be perimenopause? Insomnia, fatigue and anxiety are also classic peri/menopause symptoms. Only saying as your levels look optimal to me so could be start of peri.More than likely you're male going off your username so just laugh to yourself and ignore me

Thanks for replying sparkly.I will just laugh to myself but I won’t ignore you 😂 Yes I’m male

I'm also on T4/T3 combo, my numbers were almost identical to yours when on 125mcg levo and 6.25mcg T3 daily so I have dropped my Levo to 112.50mcg. I had insomnia and anxiety similar to yourself before the decrease.

jacobite33 profile image
jacobite33 in reply toSovietSong

how are you now with the decrease?

SovietSong profile image
SovietSong in reply tojacobite33

Grand,I had introduced T3 approx three months ago and had been great for the first ten weeks then I had a few hyper symptoms but am feeling good the last fortnight since dropping the levo by 12.5mcg.Lots of the symptoms crossover and sometimes we think we need more when the opposite is the case.

Free T4 (fT4) 21.1 pmol/L (12 - 22) 91.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 6.2 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 83.8%

Having a little too much can feel a lot like not having enough.

On combi therapy most people need both FT4 & FT3 to be around 70%.

Suggest you reduce Levo by 12.5-25mcgs.

No result for vit D.

NHS easy postal kit vitamin D test £31 via

vitamindtest.org.uk

If you're already taking a B complex then you could add 400mcgs methylfolate as your folate not yet optimal.

If not taking a B complex then you need one.

Thanks for replying Jaydee! Was already on 100mcg and built it up to 112.5mcg and then 125mcg.Was gonna be brave a go an extra 1/4 of T3 see how that goes as I thought I maybe didn’t have enough.Well that was before I took bloods. Its a fine balance! My Vit D is at the top of the results but I think I need more to be truthful.Stopped taking D+K2 and also Methylfotlate 400iu after starting the first month taking 800iu (I think that was the dosage) about a month ago.Ran out of them and didn’t order again.I would like to get my ferritin folate b12 and Vit D all to above omptimal levels to be truthful. So I need a B complex plus folate?

Jaydee1507 profile image
Jaydee1507Administrator in reply tojacobite33

Start with just a good B complex with methyl/active vitamins in it and see what the blood results look like.

To feel well and for our thyroid hormone to work well we need all vitamins to be at OPTIMAL levels. You will need to supplement levels continuously.

You have Hashi's with positive antibodies. Have you trialled a strictly gluten free diet yet?

There are a few tweaks you should really try.

jacobite33 profile image
jacobite33 in reply toJaydee1507

I try but it’s very difficult being gluten free.I’ve just discovered a shop in town that makes the most amazing proper sourdough.Im hooked! It’s the vitamins I feel I need to concentrate on to be truthful. From where I was to where I am at the moment is honestly a great improvement! Thing is with not sleeping the anxiety is there along with this feeling of fearfulness still.Especially if I over exercise and still don’t sleep.I put it down to high cortisol levels initially but I’m sure this is the first results that have came back with cortisol within the range.Obviously I’m doing something correct then.Just looking at the results is there room to take more T3 at a later date? That should also bring down the T4 slightly too?

Jaydee1507 profile image
Jaydee1507Administrator in reply tojacobite33

In my opinion you need to drop levo and possibly also T3 slightly. Less is more.

Get onto all the right supplements and see how you feel in 3-4 months time.

Stopping gluten can be very worthwhile.

I would agree with other comments

Reducing Levo a little

Perhaps by 25mcg PER WEEK…..retest in 6-8 weeks

Meanwhile improving low vitamin levels

Daily vitamin D, magnesium and vitamin B complex

Look at increasing iron rich foods in your diet

After next test……see what Ft4 and Ft3 results are

You might then consider increasing T3 by 1/4 tablet

So 3 x 1/4 per day

And ……ideally …..after next blood test…..if still got anxiety….look at least 3-6 months absolutely strictly gluten free

Thank you SlowDragon! I was taking 5000iu of Vit D+K2 to just about a month ago there. Can see it’s still low think it’s best in treble figures if I not mistaken. Is there any other recommendations other than BetterYou that I was using? Was going through those sprays like hot cakes and they can be quite expensive! Just ordered Liposomal B complex. Can you recommend a magnesium supplement? Geez oh SlowDragon you make me smile with that one! 25mcg per week for I’ll need a scalpel and set of micro scales 😂 Thought I was doing well with the diet but obviously not!

SlowDragon profile image
SlowDragonAdministrator in reply tojacobite33

You can do alternate day Better You spray that doesn’t contain K2 …..it’s cheaper

You said you stopped supplementing vitamin D few weeks before test?

B complex …..I like Igennus B complex ….cheap and small tablets. I find one tablet per day is fine

Most people only find they need one per day. But a few people find it’s not high enough dose

Post discussing different B complex

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule) Thorne can be difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay

25mcg per week for I’ll need a scalpel and set of micro scales

You’re currently talking 125mcg daily

Just reduce levothyroxine by 12.5mcg twice week

So 125mcg 5 days and 112.5mcg 2 days per week

When you retest …..make sure to test 24 hours after taking 125mcg

jacobite33 profile image
jacobite33 in reply toSlowDragon

yes I stopped taking BetterYou with K2 about a month ago.Just ran out of them and never ordered again. Was taking it for a couple of months along with Methylfolate

I’ve ordered Liposomal there so will see how that goes first

If I could sleep I feel the anxiety and high blood pressure would ease to be truthfull! I just can get to that stage where you know you are about to fall asleep and over you go.I just seem to hang there on the edge. Then the restless legs start and end up tossing a turning all the time trying to get back to that spot.Crazy!

SlowDragon profile image
SlowDragonAdministrator in reply tojacobite33

Restless legs…..are you taking any magnesium

Low magnesium linked to restless legs

Also low iron/ferritin

Your ferritin is low for a bloke ….look at increasing red meat, liver once a week or liver pate. Etc etc

List of iron rich foods

dailyiron.net

Personally I found anxiety just stopped when I went absolutely strictly gluten free…..I was astonished. I guess because it improved gut function

And similarly smaller but still noticeable improvement when I went dairy free

I would never go back to eating either.

Just ran out of them and never ordered again. Was taking it for a couple of months along with Methylfolate

You need to ensure you take continuously

Watch out for good offers online (eg 3 for 2 at H&B on Better you)

I take 5000iu vitamin D per day…..3 sprays of Better You with K2 plus 2 - which is 1000iu per spray……plus 2 sprays of the blue 1000iu version (it’s cheaper)

Lots of different Magnesium options

I have tried loads of different ones

Calm vitality magnesium powder…..Cheap and good for constipation …very relaxing and improves sleep

My current favourite - doesn’t affect gut

Thorne Citramate

Large capsules…..can open and tip in small glass water

All magnesium best taken afternoon or bedtime (at least 4 hours away from Levo)

Personally I take levothyroxine at bedtime so take magnesium after dinner
