Ventolin switch
Thank you for all your views on switching from
Ventolin
to other CFC free inhalers. My doctor made me feel like a stupid old woman telling me it was mind over matter. I will stand my ground on this one now I know I am not imagining things and not alone. X

How do you know when your ventolin is used up?
I rarely had to use my
ventolin
- mostly when developing a chest infection. Now i need it more often. It could do with a counter on it like Fostair. I read something about putting it in water and judging from the way it sinks or floats. Dodgy?

How long can preventer take to be fully effective?
Was given brown preventer with
Ventolin
. Wasn't successful. Given Fostair Nexthaler 2x2 from 22/8. Apart from 1 week in rural Scotland in September I'm still heavily on reliant on reliever.

Broncholidator Reversibility Test
They had me doing x8 spirometry readings, even though I was coughing and a bit wheezy, they gave me x4 puffs of
ventolin
, waited 15 minutes, then I had to do another x6 spirometry readings to see if there was reversibility but had to stop due to coughing and increased wheezing.

Having issues with relvar ellipta
This morning my mouth was so full of powder I don't think any of it got to my lungs and I was needing
ventolin
by 3pm. I followed the inhaler tutorial video exactly from day 1 so I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

fluticasone propionate
I was referred to a pulmonologist who said I had asthma as well as Bronchiectasis and prescribed a nebulizer with abuterol/
ventolin
and fluticasone propionate He did a bronchoscopy and also found MAC. I will see an infectious disease specialist in December with a follow up from my pulmonologist.

Side-effects of using Ventolin every day
I wonder if there are any long-term effects of using
Ventolin
every day (e.g can I get desensitized?). In terms of side effects, I notice that my heart rate is high (100-120 when lying down). Other than
ventolin
, high prednisone works, I but I try to stay off it for as long as I can.

Inhaler flares my Anxiety
I have extrinsic asthma and at my recent asthma check up I was advised that I needed to be more strict on taking my inhalers everyday (brown 2x a day) and blue
ventolin
for when I feel symptoms.

Multiple short courses of steroids for cough
We often blast him with
Ventolin
(as much as 8-10 puffs every 4 hrs.... yes: a lot! But even this doesn't 'hold it'. Then we give his oral prednisone (20 mg x 3 days based on 1 mg/kg). We are based in Dublin, Ireland and see a consultant for respiratory in CUH.

Covid causing Asthma flare
I had Covid nearly two weeks ago and I've been left with this lingering cough and occasional breathlessness and I've also been finding that I'm using my
Ventolin
inhaler more, my chest doesn't feel tight but sometimes i just get very out of breath and it's hard to catch my breath.

Covid or Asthma
I've got this nasty chesty cough and yesterday and today I've been slightly more breathless than usual, nothing too extreme and I'm not needing to use my
Ventolin
so that's a good thing I guess.

Salamol
I am not totally convinced that a salamol( on the box called salbutamol sulphate) is as good as salbutamol (
Ventolin
)for relieving asthma symptoms. Can’t find an old box for
Ventolin
to check the ingredients. Has anyone out there changed to salamol & found any problems or not. Maybe it’s just me.

And taking a very large amount of
Ventolin
over nearly 2 weeks. Every time we see the nurse they listen to her chest and say she’s fine. No wheeze she’s fine! But that’s because she’s just taken her inhaler in a few hours she will need it again!!

pulmonary fibrosis
He has two inhalers, Trimbow and
ventolin
. He can’t walk 10 steps without getting breathless. Putting his shoes on he’s breathless. So I measured for oxygen which drops to 82, sit down do nothing and it’ll come back up to 94 within about 5 minutes. 95 seems to be the norm for him.
