fluticasone propionate

I was diagnosed a month ago with Bronchiectasis after a Ct scan for my stage 4 breast cancer. I was referred to a pulmonologist who said I had asthma as well as Bronchiectasis and prescribed a nebulizer with abuterol/ventolin and fluticasone propionate He did a bronchoscopy and also found MAC. I will see an infectious disease specialist in December with a follow up from my pulmonologist. I have read it’s not good to ge on a steroid for long and I will also ask about including 7% saline. Can anyone tell me their experience with these drugs?

I’ve had fluticasone drops in the past. I now have budesnide is my nebuliser which also has a steroid in it. I’ve been on steroids long term in the past and the inhaled ones are nothing like being on the tablets. I nebulise salbutamol before I nebulise antibiotics as it stops me having bronchospasms. I don’t know anything about MAC but I hope the infectious disease doctor can help you out. Good luck also with your breast cancer. You are certainly going through it.

Thank you! Its confusing what people are using in the nebulizer but I was a bit concerned about the side affects of the steroid as I have glaucoma. I think I have a gradual breakdown of my. Body lol.

As far as I know the steroid in these drugs don’t have the same side effects as oral steroid. Perhaps ask your doctor or optician to put your mind at rest. Take care

I was at the hospital today getting my fulvestrant shots and talked to the pharma that overlooks my bloodwork. She told me the fluticasone also included salbutamol. I had never heard of it until you posted but I was glad I asked her. It does seem to be helping. You never stop learning! Thank you Chris

Thank you! In the old days we’d never have known we had a problem but just succumbed to what might have been thought of as old age. The wonders of modern medicine. Chris
