My first post and need advice please
Hi all, I really need to know if I have COPD? Before Christmas I had flu like symptoms and went to my GP who gave me antibiotics. Finished the course but the cough just went on and on and I finally went back and saw a locum doctor that I'd not seen before. Told him about my cough and the fact that

Can I take ventolin as needed despite using sirdupla?
Hi folks. I don't want to be a pain in the proverbial by posting here too often but I need advice. I had a bad asthma flare on holiday but thankfully I managed to get an emergency supply of steroids to take away with me as it started to play up before I left. The flare was caused I believe by hay fever

New To Asthma--Some Questions
Hi There, This is long, so apologies in advance. A few months ago I was diagnosed with adult on-set asthma after having this horrible case of bronchitis that lasted for about 2.5 months. It ended up being bacterial (but according to my specialist the initial antibiotics given were not strong enough

Endo and asthma
Has anyone else developed asthma since endo diagnosis? I was diagnosed with endo 2yrs ago now. It was a bit of a 'lucky' diagnosis if I'm honest, I'd been suffering with increased pain in the first couple of days of my period for at least 1.5-2yrs before I went to my GP at the time (I've since moved

Bad reaction to Fostair.
I was persuaded to change my asthma medication to Fostair back in January this year, but was anxious about making the change and continued with my old 'brown and blue' inhaler routine until March. When I did change to Fostair as a preventer inhaler I was impressed by how effective it was. I never needed

Asthma attack vs exaccerbation
Hi, I’m new here. I was just wondering if anyone could clarify the difference between an asthma attack and an asthma exaccerbation. I’ve had asthma since I was a child (now 36) but to my knowledge I’ve never had an asthma attack. The past couple of years I’ve been fine with just the odd puff of ventolin

Plants in bedroom
Having recently refurbished the bedroom, I removed the carpet and layed laminate flooring. I then added "air purifying " plants, snake plant, Aloa Vera, and a peace Lilly. My chest and breathing feel a whole lot better in the morning, I used to reach straight for the ventolin, but not any more.

Severe asthma and lots of attacks (? Allergy related), any advice during wait to see consultant?
My meds were changed in October last year (simbicort to fostair) as I was taking ventolin every day, and my chest really didn't like fostair. I had a really fast, severe attack (pretty much ok to totally unable to breathe in about 15 minutes) in December, with similar symptoms in Feb and March - akin

Exercise induced asthma?
My 12 year old is breathless on minimal exercise - this has been deteriorating over the past year. Previously he was physically fit and energetic. He's being treated for asthma- on monteleukast (also has allergies - nuts/ grass/pollen), and is on a combined steroid/ long acting beta agonist. He doesn't

Bad asthma but good SATS. A&E experience
Had a bad attack yesterday and my daughter, a nurse (now community, formerly A&E staff nurse) took me to A&E at 11:30 am. I’m a retired nurse Although I’ve been asthmatic from childhood, it’s usually well managed and this is only the third bad attack that’s needed hospital treatment and the first time

So frustrated
So, I’ve had asthma since I was about 15 (am now 40 something!) have been really struggling to control my symptoms and the clenil I take makes my mouth so sore I have to periodically stop taking it. When I stop taking it I then have to use my ventolin at least 10 times a day and during the night. Asthma

Frustrated by hospital experience
I'm new here so please be kind! I'm pretty sure that the experience of the last few days won't surprise many, but just how hopeless can a Hospital be in looking after an asthma patient? The early hours of Sunday morning saw a very breathless me whizzing off under blue lights and sirens to the local DGH

Reaction to Thunderstorm
Last night there was a thunderstorm where I live around 7pm last night. I was sitting on my bed looking out of the window looking at the storm developing. So I closed the wundows, bedroom door and turned on my air purfier. I felt the pressure of the storm building as my chest started to tightness in

They were right it is Asthma....
Briefly , I was diagnosed last June, but felt absolutely fine by November, so I convinced myself that the chest infection had caused all of my problems, it was actually the antibiotics plus the inhalers that ‘cured’ me, so I stopped using the inhalers and I have been absolutely fine. We went on a flight

3 years down the line...
Hello all! It's been 3 years since I first posted on here, and i thought it was time to catch up. Thank you to everyone who helped me on the start of my journey. Since then I have been put on annual tests (my next is due in a couple of months), I have continued on a low dose of Levothyroxine, and I
