1st Annual Review
I've just had my first annual review having been diagnosed last year with borderline mild COPD. As there has been no change at all and I'm a fit and healthy non smoker the nurse suggested that I could stop using the brown preventative inhaler but I can't help thinking maybe the inhaler has stopped the

Asthma flare not settling....
Hi all, I'm a (usually) well controlled asthmatic on Seretide 125 twice daily with very occasional use of ventolin. About a month ago after a week of camping/being outdoors, my asthma flared (tight chest, no wheeze or cough) and I was started on Pred 40mgs daily for 5 days. (only had x1 course of steroids

Pneumonia update.
Just to say I went to the Dr again yesterday. I’m waking up some mornings and have a job to take a deep enough breath for me to walk to the bathroom. I’ve practically fallen there hanging on to whatever I can on the way. It’s been quite scary. My ventolin helps after I’ve been to the bathroom but even

So Confused by sudden worsening of Asthma
Hi, I've had Asthma as long as I can remember. But I've always gone through most of my life feeling like I haven't had it because it's been so mild that I haven't even needed a preventer inhaler... until 3 months ago. I remember being out with my friend and feeling suddenly wheezy. Now, bear in mind

Looking for AF advice - runner!
Hi! In the grand scheme of things, my experiences pale into near-nothingness compared to what so many of you are having to live with, however I am hoping that you might be able to offer some advice and support. I am 34, a smidge overweight (BMI of 30.9) and asthmatic. I have been running for 4-5 years

Inhalers and heart rate
Do you know if there is a short acting bronchodilator that doesn't increase heart rate? I need Ventolin (salbutamol) pretty often, but I hate the fact that it makes my heart beat fast. Any thoughts?

Rescue inhaler and Anxiety?
I have issues with panic attacks, and I have a Ventolin (albuterol) inhaler. I have very mild asthma. It says that being "jittery" is a side effect of using the inhaler. Does this mean it could trigger a panic attack if I use it?

Trouble loading symbicort turbohaler 😞
Hi all. I don't know if I am being a numpty, but I was prescribed symbicort a couple of days ago, but despite following the instructions about how to set the inhaler up it doesn't seem to have worked as the counter isn't counting down - sorry if I haven't explained myself well... I am bringing it in

Spirometry test.
Hi I've been to see the Asthma Nurse twice this month, first for a review, second for a spirometry test, so apparently she said I don't have Asthma , after being on Clenil 100, and Ventolin for 2 yrs when I was told I had late on set Asthma, I asked if I can stop taking the Inhalers then ,

Asthma playing up and forgot to refill prescription (not emergency).
I've had a busy week this week, including an interview and an exam. I forgot to refill my Fostair prescription. It was after my Friday night dose that it dawned on me that I had 6 puffs left and I take four a day. I decided to split them down to one puff twice a day in hopes of stretching it. I was a

The air that I breath.
Could be the words of song.....what do you mean, it is? Anyway, another post about the air that we breath. A couple of years ago, I was part of a few webinars conducted by the respiratory specialist at Royal Brompton Hospital. One of the topics was just this and how to tolerate air that was hostile

Inhaler side effects
Hi all, I was diagnosed with asthma at around 12 and with the flu jab it has been controlled. I had the flu jab last September but recently had to take my inhaler more often. I used to be on a light brown one (unsure of the correct name) but stopped taking it 2/3 years back and just use the Ventolin

New to sight, from US
Hi Im from the States(Florida resident) I found this place googling for info. Sometimes can get better info listening to others issues and similar problems. I have recently been dealing with this uncontrolled asthma since around Aug 2017. At that time I got Bronchitis which brought out the asthma. I

My first post and need advice please
Hi all, I really need to know if I have COPD? Before Christmas I had flu like symptoms and went to my GP who gave me antibiotics. Finished the course but the cough just went on and on and I finally went back and saw a locum doctor that I'd not seen before. Told him about my cough and the fact that

Can I take ventolin as needed despite using sirdupla?
Hi folks. I don't want to be a pain in the proverbial by posting here too often but I need advice. I had a bad asthma flare on holiday but thankfully I managed to get an emergency supply of steroids to take away with me as it started to play up before I left. The flare was caused I believe by hay fever

New To Asthma--Some Questions
Hi There, This is long, so apologies in advance. A few months ago I was diagnosed with adult on-set asthma after having this horrible case of bronchitis that lasted for about 2.5 months. It ended up being bacterial (but according to my specialist the initial antibiotics given were not strong enough

Endo and asthma
Has anyone else developed asthma since endo diagnosis? I was diagnosed with endo 2yrs ago now. It was a bit of a 'lucky' diagnosis if I'm honest, I'd been suffering with increased pain in the first couple of days of my period for at least 1.5-2yrs before I went to my GP at the time (I've since moved
