Finasteride
Has anyone on this forum taken Finasteride? I've been on it for a couple of months for my hair loss (I'm female). I've developed hives over the last few weeks, which I'm beginning to think is due to the Finasteride. The hives aren't too bad yet, and have been mostly controlled by a steroid cream

NHS app
Hi all, I hope everyone has had a good weekend. I’m wondering if anybody knows if what appears as a consultation on the NHS app matches what is written on the system the GP’s use? To give some background I had an appointment about a mole like mark on my leg. GP sent me away with steroid cream as

So, I went to the dermatologist…
I had this skin thing on the back of my neck. Under my hair. I did some research, picked the doc, hoping for a real one. I go in the office… not bad.. most of the time you go in and they are basically a beauty product shop. But this one is just.. a doc office. Maybe he is real? Then I go in.

RASH ASSOCIATED WITH GABAPENTIN
I have been taking Gabapentin for about 9 months. I recently developed a skin rash. A google search indicates that a skin rash can be a serious side effect of Gabapentin. I would hate to stop taking it because it has really improved the quality of my sleep. I have been using a steroid cream off and

Just been given Lubfobec - is it effective?
I have been using Clenil for years as a preventative inhaler and have just recently been told I have to swap to Lubfobec and not have ventolin any more. I'm so scared, Salamol didn't work at all for me and actually seemed to cause asthma attacks. The asthma nurse told me I could no longer get Ventolin

I’m now at day +52 from my BMT. Two weeks ago I started experiencing symptoms of Graft VS Host Disease. Should I keep pushing to be tested? Or are the doctors right?
Hi there, I am really struggling. I have always felt like something was not right about my menstrual cycle. I’m now 22, and have been bleeding consistently and sometimes heavily since December 2023. This is the worst it has ever been, and I finally decided to seek treatment for something I have ignored

Arnica cream for jab reactions
Just posting in case it's useful to anyone else...🤞 I've posted previously about a hive style reaction I get after SC injections on my tummy. I've tried allsorts, including strong antihistamines and mild steroid cream, to ease the itch and calm the redness. I've now found that Arnica cream is the

After my hip operation: PMR quiet (thank goodness) while everything else goes mad
caftan’s recent post about their upcoming hip operation prompted me to write this. I read the post, and the responses, to see if there was anything I could add, but there wasn’t. I’m 73, and my op in early Feb went really well; I’m now almost as active as I expect to be. My pred dosage has been managed

Topical steroids: introduction of new labelling and a reminder of the possibility of severe side effects
Just got an MHRA alert email. The topic could be relevant to some so I'll post the first paragraph and a link. [i]

Is it discoid lupus?
Hi fellow lupus warriors I posted a few weeks ago about an ulcer on my leg that wouldn't heal. After oral antibiotics that had no effect, the Dr found a stronger antibiotic cream that cleared up the infection. Hooray! But in the meantime I keep getting more bumps. I thought it was a coincidence,

Skin problems at low dose
I was so happy to finally get down to 5mg after 4+ years PMR and GCA...though attempts to get below this are so far not working but I am being patient. However 6 weeks ago I woke up to an itchy rash on my back and still have it. Diagnosed via photos and text with gp (4 week wait for f2f appt) as eczema

How is your skin?
I recall folks posting about skin issues and AMN a few years back, or did they? Never mind try this for size. Been going on for months and months now, When I'd get my head down on the pillow at night, within minutes it was like my head was crawling, the itching would soon start, heating up. Couldn't

Cutaneous lupus
Hi, I've just joined the group following a diagnosis of cutaneous lupus. My skin is affected on my arms, shoulders, back and chest and a few smaller spots on legs. I am waiting to see the dermatologist again so they can start hydroxychloroquine. In the meantime I am applying SPF 50 to the affected areas

‼ The lesion featured in this post may look like eczema or benign skin lesion, but it is in fact a melanoma! In rarer cases, all types of melanoma can lack pigmentation – these are known as amelanotic melanoma. Jane’s story below highlights just how important it is to get any abnormalities checked out

To circumcise or not to circumcise
Hi I'm 45, fit, not smoking, very little alcohol, regular exercise. Few years ago I was diagnosed with lichen sclerosis by a leading UK expert in genital dermatology prof Bunker. I didn't have any severe symptoms just some small red spots but no pain etc. at least not visible to me but he was confident
