I need to have the Yellow Fever vaccine to travel to Ghana. I have bronchiectasis and Eosinophilic asthma for which I am taking Fasenra. I’m wondering if anyone else has had a live vaccine particularly for yellow fever whilst being on Fasenra. What advice were you given about having it. I’m also over 60 which apparently increases the risk of adverse reaction to the vaccine.
There’s a lot of conflicting information on the internet - so thought I’d see what others have been advised??
Thanks 😊

I’m severely immune suppressed from rituximab and I’ve always been told no live vaccines. Also to steer clear of kids that have had the live flu vaccine.
The only people who can advise you are your doctor and te pharmacist. Live vaccines do need treating carefully. Hope that your trip goes well, sounds exciting. Chris.
Who is giving you the vaccine? I would ask your doctor about the suitability of it for you bearing in mind your medical history and the other drugs you are on. I don't think any information on the internet is going to be specific enough. Enjoy your trip, I'm envious! xx
Just a little update for those interested… I could have had the yellow fever vaccine with Fasenra as long as I waited 2 weeks after. But turns out I’m too old to have it! The vaccine is not available to over 60s. So if anyone thinks they may want to travel somewhere that needs it have it early! It lasts at least 25 years.
