Australian saturated fat & cholesterol documentary (both parts)

Statins, neuromuscular degenerative disease and an amyotrophic lateral sclerosis-like syndrome: an analysis of individual case safety report
CONCLUSION: We emphasise the rarity of this possible association, and also the need for further study to establish whether a causal relationship exists. We do advocate that trial discontinuation of a statin should be considered in patients with serious neuromuscular disease such as the ALS-like syndrome

Mevalonate Pathway Disruption
Statins work by disrupting the mevalonate pathway, of which CoQ10 is a part. Not surprising there are so many adverse effects. Calf Muscle problems
I am 67 now and have been on Statins since 2012 and after 3 years started to experience calf muscle problems and for a while in 2017 it got to the stage when I couldn't walk for more than a few steps. At that stage it was agreed that I would stop taking Statins as the Neurologist judged, after numerous

Scary heartbeat
Hi all. I have Parox AF and on all the meds involved. Beta blockers Blood thinners and Statins. My heart beat is nice is on 65 but it’s really and I mean really strong. I have a cuppa resting on my chest and it’s really moving the mug. Not just slightly, I mean the mug is dancing. Surely this isn’t AF

Bit of a shock
I'm new on here so thought I'd share my story(so far). Went to do a bit of photograpy on 25th August 2019. Pretty warm day .. walked up hill to van.. felt breathless..chest pains and sweating. Drove the 3 miles home ( bit stupid ) and wife called an ambulance. The paramedics were here in 15 mins and

Have I developed "doctor phobia" or what...?!
Today I saw my new GP for a follow-up visit. My old one moved away and I stopped going to the practice for no particular reason. On Sept 6, during my first visit since July '17, my BP was slightly raised (170/92, heart rate 90). I was put on perindopril 5 mg daily and told to come back today. Interestingly

Slightly high cholesterol
My husband had bloods taken and he has been told his cholesterol is slightly high and started on a Statins. She kept asking him if he was alright with it. I've suggest he hold back from starting them and try some lifestyle changes first. Is this reasonable?

Cholesterol
My cholesterol is rising, we think it is linked to pegasys and PV. My GP says it’s not my diet. Any thoughts or advice if statins are a good option in general for women with PV. My gp says it’s up to me as the research is inconclusive.

Is there agreement that Cholesterol should be low?
I've seen some discussions on here regarding the pros and cons of statins, Mediterranean diet, going vegan etc. Think I need to learn more before I can make any decision. However, as a starting point, is there general agreement that having a low total cholesterol level is good for preventing a heart

Statins & hypothyroidism
For those on statins: Hypothyroidism as a risk factor for statin intolerance https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S193328741400230X Be aware that some of your symptoms, especially muscle symptoms, may be due to taking statins rather than the hypothyroidism itself.

Statins
Just became aware of a connection with Statins and PMR. I have decided to stop taking my daily 10mg statin. See my Rheumatologist next week. I will discuss it then.
