newly diagnosed with high cholesterol
I’ve just decided to take statins after poor cholesterol results - 7.1 overall, ‘bad’ around 4, always been against them but worried lifestyle/diet changes not enough. Think might have famial type as mother always had very high levels despite healthy diet. but brother won’t get tested!

First ever PSMA scan shows two small bone lesions
I recently posted about my father who had just completed IMRT and three years of Lupron (no mets seen on bone/CT scans). At the time his MO was suggesting adding Zytiga per studies showing its effectiveness with ADT at diagnosis for localized high grade cancer (he is Gleason 9). MO also ordered PSMA

35 rounds of IMRT and in month 3 of 6 ADT after failed RALP. Glad to put the daily trips in the rear view mirror. Head to Mexico in a couple months to celebrate. Fingers crossed for a long time to any new BCR. My hats off to all you warriors enduring your journey.

Radiation and Large Median Lobe
I went to my first Urologist appointment because of urinary problems. A DRE discovered a lump that was diagnosed as Gleason 7 (3+4). It was also discovered that I had a large median lobe that was likely the cause of my slow stream and urgency. There was a discussion between my Urologist (wanted to

I have been reading everything I can here, but still feel a little terminology and technically lacking. A tip for Australians with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia trying to access pneumococcal vaccination through the National Immunisation Program
What a morning I've had to get my third pneumococcal vaccine. I'll share the details here as the solution I found could help others with CLL in Australia who are having difficulty accessing these vaccines through the National Immunisation Program (NIP). In Australia, since 1 July 2020, it's standard

IMRT WITHOUT SPACEOAR PROTECTION (EPE) WORRIED ABOUT RECTUM PROBLEMS (PROCTITIS) & IMRT (20x,28x,???) vs SBRT
I am going to have to have IMRT for 20 treatments at UCLA as opposed to the 5 Sbrt treatments as the EPE on reread on my Biopsy identified the extracapsular extension. My Ro thinks that: Not to have spaceoar as it may trap the Extracapsular extension microscopic cancer cells . IMRT has more data than

Suitable drugs for hypertension
I am due to see my GP on Wednesday and I know we will be having a conversation about my raised blood pressure (in the region of 159/70). I already know calcium channel blockers are not good for RLS and I cannot take beta blockers which make my heart go much too slow. Could any of you good folk give

Father’s MO now recommending adding Zytiga
Hi all, my dad is nearly three years from diagnosis of Gleason 9 with evidence of spread to local lymph nodes (see profile). Has had IMRT concurrent with 3 years of lupron. Latest PSA 0.03, <0.02 6 months prior. Original plan from MO was to do Lupron for 3 years which would end 2/23. His recent appointment

I recently dislocated my shoulder. Since that happened, i noticed my rls got worse and now i get it during the day. No new meds. Could the dislocation have anything to do with this?

Radiation a second time? Recurrent PC
I recently had a PSMA scan done that showed my recurrence is in the prostate and three Iliac nodes ( none enlarged). I had IMRT done 17 years ago, my question is anyone familiar with doing a targeted course of radiation a second time? I will be doing Provenge after the first of the year then researching

Stuck between deciding on IMRT CONDENSED and SBRT with 4 months ORGOVXY- Have Jan 12th date to make decision for UCLA (meet with Dr. Kishan)
I will give you the facts as I know them and who recommends each therapy:
1. I live near UCLA so convenience is not a factor ,however 20 IMRT treatments is more than 5 SBRT Treatments.
2.
Dr. Howard Sandler, (Cedars -Sinai) -RO,

Solgar Hawthorn Berry Capsules ? Has anybody taken these ?
Does anybody take any of these capsules? I would really like to hear from people, as to how the capsules helped them and how they got on with them ? I recently started to take the Solgar 484mg Berry Powder . They stopped my symptoms immediately. Ie:- Palpitations, (mostly in the night), occasional fast

IMRT CONDENSED -4 Months ADT VS SBRT -4 Months ADT
The finding of the ECE after review by MSK increased my cancer to higher risk by my RO's. They are split , one recommending IMRT with 4 months rather than SBRT alone. The other recommending SBRT with 4 months ADT.
RO says their is more long term data with IMRT Condensed (20 treatments)

Raised cholesterol
I have been advised to take cholesterol medication by nhs endocrinologist. He did genetic testing for familial hyperlipidemia, which was negative but had an anomaly. I was given Atirvastatin which I haven’t tried as it seems to be one that has worse side effects for patients with thyroid disease. I

ECE and CRIBRIFORM FOUND IN PATH REVIEW OF MSK BIOPSY BY UCSF
I am scheduled for SBRT at UCLA for 1/12/ 2023. However , UCSF did a path review of MSK's Biopsy report, and indicated that UCSF found additionally : 1
. the presence of "expansile cribriform subtype"
2. the "possible identification of extracapsular extension" described below:

Proctitis from Radiation
I had 27 sessions of IMRT in 2019 for prostate cancer. Even though I had the SpaceOAR procedure, I believe I have some rectal damage. Every now and then when I wipe after a bowel movement, there will be a bit of raw blood. I did have hemorrhoid surgery in 2008 but didn't see any blood through the years
