Hospital doctor having IVF - advice please!
Hello all! Just wondering if any of you lovely people happen to have gone through IVF whilst in postgraduate medical training and, if so, if you have any advice to impart. I'm a senior registrar in a hospital-based specialty and I'm due to CCT within the next year. We need to start IVF, and have been

Travel advice re Zika & pregnancy / IVF
Hi all, I was wondering if anybody had been given specific travel advice from their Dr to not travel to certain destinations due to Zika risk? My Fertility Dr (not very helpfully) didn't have a view and said to check travel sites. I have seen online that some destinations (e.g. Maldives, Caribbean

5 week scan post IVF update
Hi there, I am currently 5 weeks + 2 days after a successful FET. I had a scan today at my EPU because I have a history of ectopics. The sonographer could only see a tiny blob on the scan which they have taken as enough to rule out an ectopic but not enough to say whether it's viable. I know this is

Low Blastocyst rate
Hi there I just wondered if anyone has had similar experience in getting low blastocyst rates in IVF ? Background, age 36 (started IVF age 35) with good AMH levels etc and diagnosed as unexplained infertility. I have now done three egg collections and have always managed to get a decent amount of

Suggestions for further testing
Hi all Have been silently reading posts for sometime now. Apologies for the long post in advance.. My story in short. Diagnosed with endometriosis and went through laproscopy in 2021. AMH significantly reduced. Was advised not to go for ivf with own eggs due to low AMH plus needed PGTA for a cardiac

Egg retrieval
Hello, I am about to start IVF for the first time, and I am very anxious about the whole process. I am worried about the egg retrieval procedure in particular, and just wondered how you felt on waking up after the procedure? Many thanks

Friendship and loneliness in IVF: how do you stay connected?
Hello lovely ladies, I'm sure many of you will relate to the loneliness and disconnect that comes with IVF. I'm hoping you have some advice on how to rebuild connections and fight the feeling... I'm realising I'm becoming quite a hermit these days. I don't reach out to friends anymore because they have

Weight loss for IVF
Hi there I have low amh and am currently in IVF treatment - unfortunately it looks like my ovaries are not really responding and I will have the current round cancelled on Tuesday. Failed FET (sibling cycle) - Ultrasound guided transfer a factor for no success?
This is my 3rd round of IVF. First round was in the UK - it was a transfer on day three with two poor quality embryos. This transfer was USS guided. This resulted in our beautiful daughter. I have now completed rounds 2 & 3 in Australia. Both embryos were good day 5 quality. One fresh in march and

When is a Hysteroscopy needed - IVF failures
Hi lovelies, After 7 eggs collections and 7 blastocysts (cycles 2-5 we had no blasts!), I’m considering other investigations. I’m now 39. I have completed blood work which came back fine bar Leidens factor V, and had a biopsy for Nk cells which I don’t have. I am about to complete endometrio in May

Sensitive: nervous 14dp5dt
Good morning, I was just wondering if somebody could give me their thoughts on this. I’ve been fairly calm this ivf round, but since yesterday I feel like my anxiety is through the roof. I’ve been testing since 8dp5dt and much to my surprise we had a positive. This is the first one in our long infertility

No eggs retrieved- end of the road. What now?
Struggling today after my egg collection yesterday where no eggs were retrieved and my 5th and final cycle was cancelled. I’m 42 with low AMH OF 0.8 - long story short- I had 4 previous cycles and 5 transfers between 2019 and 2021, all BFN and thought I was done with ivf. I spent the past year

HRT patch help
I’m on my mock cycle for a IVF donor egg transfer. I’ve started oestrogen patches but I seem to be getting shooting electric shock pains up the side of my head / neck. Has anybody experienced similar? Many thanks xx

Anyone had lots of eggs but no embryos from 1st cycle any chance on 2nd cycle?! Change stims? Change clinic?! Supplements?
I'm 39, have PCOS but they think it's more hypothalamic amenorrhea that's causing annovulatuon. Clomid and letrazole didn't work. I have a high AMH, BMI just got above19. We just did our first and only cycle of IVF allowed on NHS and I got 14 eggs collected from over 15 follicles & oestrogen was over

Should I use ICSI with a sperm donor?
Hi, me again. This is my first IVF cycle (and I’m doing it alone) - and I have a thousand questions swirling around my head. Thanks so much for all your help. I’ve just received my treatment plan, and it includes ICSI. This wasn’t mentioned previously in my consultations. I thought that ICSI was generally

Confirmed BFN after hcg
The clinic have confirmed a negative hcg blood test today. I am devastated. I sort of knew it was coming but there was always a glimmer of hope until now. This was our first round of IVF with DE. We had 5/9 eggs that defrosted, 2fertilised with DH sperm and 1 survived and was transferred. I didn’t

In an exhibition!
Hello everyone. Back in 2017 I did a painting of myself - a self portrait. The whole point of it was that in my recovery from my TBI I was putting on a brave face, or a front, so that people around me didn't realise that I felt like I was crumbling inside. putting on that front was exhausting, on top

Low grade embryo, can they work???
Hi, I've just had my second failed round of IVF with icsi. First round actually worked but resulted in misscarraige, second round just didn't work at all. We have 2 frozen embryos but they are low quality, grade 3 or c I think it it. They called and said it was up to me if I wanted to keep them or throw
