Monkey whispering in my ear
I’m 5 weeks into double bypass CABG recovery and feeling really good. So good that a monkey on my shoulder has started to whisper in my ear such things as AF and STROKE. I think I maybe need a good telling off and a kick, and need to get on with my life now, (I’m very lucky to be fixed) OR are these

Just checking please - 48 bpm
Hi fellow heart-people I hope you are all well. It’s my four week anniversary of CABG double bypass and doing well so far ! I hope this progress continues. I bought an apple watch and perhaps have become too obsessed by the heart monitor. It is showing my BPM at rest as 48/49. I’m on Amiaderone for

Apixaban
My warfarin has been ceased and I have been commenced on Apixaban. Since taking Apixaban I have been breathless and feel tight in the chest. I have had double CABG and a bovine valve replacing my aortic valve. Any suggestions should I go back to warfarin or continue with the Apixaban for a few more

Has anyone decided between CABG and a crush stent procedure (several stents lined back to back or one crushed so it can form a V)?
My dad had an angiogram this afternoon and the doctors are weighing these two options. I'm not familiar with these stent procedures and really worried about my dad. Any advice would be appreciated.

Is it possible to stent four arterial blockages in one angioplasty?
My dad (62) has at least four significant arterial blockages (over 70%) one of which is in his LAD. He's scheduled for an angioplasty tomorrow and possible stenting, but with so many blocks I'm worried they'll have to do CABG. Has anyone been in this situation and only treated it with stents and meds

A new path - 6 weeks after Aortic Valve and Root Op
Hi, Today (6 weeks and 2 days) my surgeon has 'discharged' me following telephone follow-up conversation. Based on my description of current level of exercise and discomfort (close to zero) along with a photo of my scar taken this morning I am: - able to drive; and - removing PPI (unless indigestion

Criteria for choosing non-emergency CABG?
My dad is scheduled for an angioplasty next week. His flow test and scans have revealed at least three significant blockages (over 70%) one of which is in his LAD. The doctors are planning to insert stents, but said the cath will give them a better sense of the blockages and if CABG is the better option

Will my dad be okay?
Hi all - I’m writing because I’m really worried about my dad (62 yrs). He’s been having some pain between his shoulder blades while exercising for a few months now. He went in to see his cardiologist last week, and came back with a calcium score of 2200 and an appointment for an angioplasty + at least

Know About Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting
Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is one of the most commonly performed open heart surgeries. Generally patients with severe coronary heart disease undergo this type of surgery. In this type of surgery a healthy artery or vein from the body is grafted or connected to the blocked coronary artery.

Live alone; what help will I need at home after a CABG?
I'm due to have a bypass in the next month for 1, possibly 2 or 3, coronary arteries following repeat in-stent restenosis after 2 angioplasty procedures. My question relates to the extent that I'll need any assistance at home after leaving hospital given that I live alone. I'm sure I can arrange for

Medicheck results - am I a poor converter?
Hello there, I had a Medicheck thyroid test as my GP says I'm well within range on my TSH 1.29 (0.3 - 4.2), the only test he ordered to check if 100mg of Levo was right for me. I had asked for FT4 and FT3 but they weren't done, surprise. My Medicheck results are TSH 0.805 (0.27 - 4.2) FT4 19

IM IN A STATE OF CONFUSION! I desperately need help to understand and actions to take following recent blood results.
My GP reduced my levo thyroxine from 100mcg to 75mcg, at beginning of March, as my TSH was 0.13 (0.27-4.2)..... T4 was21.1 (12-22) T3 was 4.9 (3.1-6.8) Of course he thinks that TSH is the most important reading , 😡 and I hadn’t the energy to dispute it . Was supposed to be retested in 6 weeks but
