My warfarin has been ceased and I have been commenced on Apixaban. Since taking Apixaban I have been breathless and feel tight in the chest. I have had double CABG and a bovine valve replacing my aortic valve. Any suggestions should I go back to warfarin or continue with the Apixaban for a few more days

Apixaban
Who changed your drug? If it was either your GP or your cardiologist I would ring them to discuss. I don’t know if what you are experiencing is normal because I’m on warfarin as I have a mechanical aortic valve, but better to be safe and query it.

Best to see your GP about the breathlessness. I have been taken off Warfarin and put on Edoxaban, probably similar to yours. I had a few suspect side effects but carried on for a month or 2 and now seem fine.
Good luck.
Hi Grayjaywe are all different! I was on warfrim after my heart valve repair and 2 bypasses . Then after 7 months switched me to apixaban. I'm 74 and have resumed tennis (doubles ) Was breathless to begin with but much better now. We cannot compare but give it time. All the best .
What did you decide to do? I am on apixaban for three weeks and am shocked how out of breath I am after climbing just 4 stairs. I tried climbing stairs before my morning pill (both morning and night time) and guess what no breathlessness, in fact I ran up the stairs with no issues... Dunno what's for the best.. I had a AF episode for the first time three weeks ago.
