Please be aware - be your own expert or use your clinical specialist service if you have any queries. I recently had a basal cell carcinoma removed and skin graft on my nose. I knew this was a possibility because of the immunosuppressant I was taking post transplant and had spoken about it’s possible

general anaesthetic when wearing a pacemaker.
Hi! It is a few years since I posted anything about myself and I suppose that is a good sign. However, I am in a bit of a quandry and I wonder if any of you can advise. I had skin grafting done on an ankle wound that refused to heal. Both the inside and outside ankle are affected. The grafts did

Trouble sleeping
I’m a new heart patient and had CABG x4 6 weeks ago. Sleep was a huge problem initially as had horrendous delirium under anaesthetic and that continued even when I returned home after 12 days. All exacerbated by having to have 2nd procedure as bleeding internally. I’m so much better now and although

THREE MONTHS DOWN FROM CABG - Open Heart Bypass
I am a 68 year old male and new to this web site and so concerned about the worries that some people have about pre and post operation, so thought I would just drop down a few points and if anyone would like my personal thoughts about the procedure then please feel free to ask. I am no expert however

What do I need to ask my GP for full blood test
I was newly diagnosed in January this year with Thyroid peroxidase antibody level 109IU/mL <60.00 IU/mL which I believe means I am Hashimoto's! However my Plasma TSH level was not high enough to be medicated 4.38 mU/L 0.30-4.20mU/L I posted my January blood results previously. I have an appointment

Self treating with NDT, a little advice needed please.
I would appreciate some advice from those with greater knowledge and experience of NDT as I have a few questions: •How to do I raise my FT3? •Is it Ok for FT4 to be under range when on NDT? •Can I realistically expect to feel 100% again? Progress is annoyingly slow. 1st GP Blood test: 06/04/2016

Refused dose increase today
My Levo dose was reduced at the beginning of the year based on my TSH. As expected I have had severe symptom return, the worst has been dreadful constipation and fatigue, crumbled nails and low mood. I have struggled badly for 4 months now. This morning I saw a new and young GP who I hoped would agree

Is there still a right to see a named consultant?
Hello. Several years ago I asked to see a particular endocrinologist who prescribes T3. When I phoned his secretary re an appointment, she said I could not specify seeing him unless I went private. Fortunately, the TPA (Thyroid Patient Assoc) had reassured me that it was my right to specify who I

Ribcage pain after CABG
Wondering if any readers have experienced pains (like a pulled muscle) in the ribcage after CABG? Recently I keep getting these in different places (usually back rib cage) that come and go. I hope I am not having a reaction to Atorvastin? (have been talking it for 10 weeks now)

Vitamin K2 and calcuim scores.
I am 75 years old, have always been fairly fit and had a good diet. A few months a go I learned that I had a calcium score of 1800 or so. I have now had a cabg. I have read many articles and watched several videos that declare that Vitamin K 2 can reduce calcium scores. What is the BHF view of this

Stent or CABG option
I cant figure this out. I had a stent fitted a month ago and have disease in three vessels. Someone i was talking to at rehab had similar disease and was offered either a stent or CABG. They went for CABG as the Dr said best option. It got me wondering - were they offered CABG as they had worse disease

What do latest blood results mean?
Please could someone help me interpret my latest results? At the beginning of the year my GP reduced my Levo from 150 to 125 as she said I was over medicated. I did as I was told for 3 and a half months and at the end of that period was pretty unwell with fatigue, aching limbs, hair thinning, my fingernails
