lung volume reduction through value insertion
Hi All don't often post but do read them all. I am due a consultation to discuss the possibility of value insertion but apparently they now put you under with anaesthetic and put you on a breathing machine and they are worried about me coming off that and say it is a risk so I don't know what I should

High FT4 and Low TSH
I am new to this group but have been diagnosed with underactive thyroid for quite some time. I have been taking levothyroxine for 10+ years titrating up to 200mcg over that time but after bloods last week I have been reduced to 100mcg. My recent bloods (July) were FT4 31.7 and TSH 0.04. My bloods

Levothyroxine dosing
HelloI have hashimotos hypothyroidism. I was just wondering if it is normal for my TSH and antibodies to keep going up until correct dose is achieved or should I still see it coming down with each dose change? Thank you 😊

Things My Doctor Said in Notes./Rant On
I am abandoning this woman! (From January9, one day after a disabling super flare.) "Prednisone dosing - she is currently on 9mg of prednisone daily. Increased thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) as a possible risk factor for atherosclerosis in subclinical hypothyroidism.
Have to admit, it is quite hard to read and I have not managed the entirety yet! But it does appear to read that even subclinical hypothyroidism might be important in itself - due to the increased TSH. [i]

Thyroid impact on menstrual cycle
Does anyone know if/how the thyroid impacts the menstrual cycle, eg cycle length (shortened vs lengthened) and flow (heavy vs lighter) depending on your thyroid function status (eg hyper versus hypo)? Are there any research papers on this? I know TSH <2.5 is preference for conception. Just wondering

negative antibodies
Hi. I’m wondering what you should test or look out for if you have negative antibodies for hypothyroid whilst having a higher TSH number? I get my bloods done every 4 months. The TSH is high, but not high enough to be medicated for (in the UK). I get my bloods done by the nurse and there’s no chat with

Research on TSH levels to show doctor
Hello, Apologies for this question, as I know it's one that has been posted before by others (I haven't figured out how to 'save' posts yet!). I'm trying to find research to show to my GP (in the UK) regarding TSH levels. My understanding is that 'healthy' individuals would have a TSH of around 1

Anyone else here also have POTs?
So it's looking like I have POTs as well as Hashimoto's. I'm 4 months on Armour and a lot of my symptoms have started to improve recently - physical fatigue/flu like symptoms are mostly gone, attacks of sleepiness getting less frequent, appetite better, lost weight, resting HR back to normal, no more

low TSH
I have autoimmune thyroid disease diagnosed 23yrs ago and have been on the hypothyroid treadmill since. Yet again GP wants to reduce my levothyroxine and liothyronine as my TSH is 0.12. this happens regularly and my TSH never changes. Many years ago an ultrasound of my thyroid showed it was “shrivelled

Amiodarone and existing hypothyroidism
What effect does it have on TSH blood results. Mine came back 0.25. I’m so fatigued and piling on weight. I thought the lower the reading result it shows hyperthyroidism. Have I now become hyperthyroid. Am I correct? Is the amiodarone (for persistent my A Fib) throwing out my thyroid?
