Carbimazole
Hi my daughter was diagnosed with graves, doctor put her on carbimazole. She started taking carbimazole and after a few months I can hardly recognise her Her eyes look unfocused and dull and her entire face seems to have sagged drastically. She never longer resembles the happy girl with bright shining

TPO positive, history of early miscarriage's, no need to medicate however still being referred to endocrinologist?
Previously when speaking with my GP's I have not really got very far and didn't really feel like my concerns were being addressed or even acknowledged. No face to face or even telephone conversations, just the same old cycle of being sent for bloods then being told all ok or 'currently stable' etc.

anybody had these tests before?
Hi Everyone Long time, no post so I apologise. Since I last spoke to anyone I have been diagnosed with Osteoperosis, so fighting a number of demons. My Rheumatologist has been concerned about my ever decreasing levels of calcium despite eating calcium rich food and doubling my prescribed Calcium supplements

Thyroid Function tests still vary between manufacturers
I've sent this paper to Lyn at TUK as it's behind a paywall. It shows how little progress has been made on harmonising test results between manufacturers' products. You would think that if numerical tests are to be used, the medical profession would insist on equivalent results wherever obtained from

Levothyroxine dose increase, advice please
hello some advise regarding increase in my levo dose would be much appreciated. My last Tsh test in February was 2.15 (0.35-4.94) unfortunately no t4 or t3 Test. No vitamin test, but my iron levels reduced back into the normal range from being slightly over range. I am currently on 75 levo, haven't been

thanks and appreciation this Thyroid Awareness Week
Was thinking about doing a post whilst trying to sleep last night. Then got up to lovely replies to my query yesterday. Just wanted to say thank you and show huge appreciation to everyone - the admins, all who post and comment. I think of you all as my thyroid tribe, we are unlikely to meet but I know

Ethanol Ablation
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced Ethanol Ablation on thyroid lobe? The last post I can find was 2yrs ago. I guess it must be more in use now. My husband was scheduled for right lobe removal operation next Thursday then received a letter from his Consultant yesterday saying that on checking

How to Stop Medication
Hello, I am desparately wanting to come off my thyroid medication, been on it too long, in my view, but no dr will help me. I am very keen to try to heal my thyroid condition (if I actually have one) with a good diet or change of diet. I believe it is possible, but the medical profession seem to want

Research for effects of insufficient Levo starting dose
Hi Quick recap: Endo started me on 25 mcg of Levo following an ultrasound showing a Hashi thyroid and increasing TSH. It has been a week now and I feel ghastly. I had zero expectations of feeling better quickly, but definitely didn’t think I would be dosing off during meetings or feeling unsafe to

Thyroid ranges for teen
Does anyone know if thyroid ranges are the same for kids/under 18s as for adults? I've got a GP appt in a couple of weeks to discuss 14 year old (with acute anxiety) results. I've only got the TSH result, and it's come back normal at 0.87 (levels 0.51-4.3). Or am I safe to assume those would be

hives after starting levothyroxine
I’ve been on 25mg of levothyroxine since 1st march. My TSH level was 5.38 and for fertility reasons I needed it to be 2.5. Levothyroxine has done the trick and I’m now 2.45. I have recently developed a raised rash all over my body that is so itchy. Does anyone have any experience of this or solutions

Would splitting my levothyroxine into at least 2 doses suppress my TSH less than talking the whole dose at once?

World Thyroid Day
Dear Thyroid People, just wondering if the group as a whole is taking any action to promote the current woeful situation of treatment? Sorry if I’ve already missed a thread on this.
