Splitting levothyroxine? Effect on tsh

Would splitting my levothyroxine into at least 2 doses suppress my TSH less than talking the whole dose at once?

Splitting Levo is likely to mean that one of your doses isnt taken on an empty stomach and thus not absorbed as well which in turn could raise your TSH but then you would effectively be getting less T4 anyway.

Have you checked vitamin levels and are supplementing to optimal?

I've recently started splitting my t4 : 62.5mcg at 7am, then 25mcg at bedtime. Both on empty stomach. I did this because I've added in some t3, and I was feeling briefly overmedicated taking all my t4 plus my first dose of t3 together at 7am. Splitting dose has improved how I feel. My plan the day before my blood test is to take all my t4 at 7am, so I get the full 24hrs without levo before my bloods.

Edit: to answer your question about tsh, my guess would be that splitting it would help to smooth out any tsh dips.

Have you had any blood tests done yet? If so could you share your levels before and after splitting?

I doubt it because T4 is basically a storage hormone. So the overall level of T4 in your blood would be the same.

I split my T4 doses. I find it does help keep my TSH in range. I also split my T3 doses. When I use to take my T4 in one dose as I woke up two hours later I’d have huge rushes which felt like adrenaline. After I split the T4 dose the rushes stopped and my TSH was in range. It’s not always the t3 affecting your TSH to suppress it’s also the T4.
