Ukrainian returns to Kyiv for thyroid testing
Newspapers today are carrying the story of a Ukranian Refugee unable to obtain an appointment with her Glasgow GP felt it necessary to return to war torn Kyiv for thyroid monitoring. Although it didn't give details of her thyroid problem, I couldn't help but think that even had she obtained that elusive

TSH is just the 'opinion' of your Pituitary about your dose ~ but your Pituitary's 'opinion' is a bit warped once you take Thyroid Hormone.
These first two papers can be used to prove that on T4 monotherapy , a dose that is enough to 'satisfy' the hypothalamus /pituitary (ie. lowers TSH to the bottom end of the ref range) , does not necessarily provide 'enough' T3 to all the other tissues... some other tissues can remain hypothyroid despite

Increasing Gut Issues
Hiya.I am currently having increasing gut type issues with my current batch of NDT. When I increase the dose, which I need to for my levels to be optimum, I am getting increased belly swelling, painful trapped wind which runs from my throat down my oesophagus and abdomen. The last few days, my belly

T3 only worth another PROPER go?
Okay so I made a post last year about being unable tolerate t3 only but I’m actually wondering if I jumped onto t3 mono too quickly and gave up too fast? (Which many others pointed out but at the time I was so unwell I could barely think straight) Prior to starting T3 only back then I was on a too

Thyroid-S
Hi I started taking a new bottle of Thyroid-S. Batch number TA22024. But I don't feel the same as on my previous Thyroid-S. I think they're either too strong or too weak. The colour is also different. It is more green. Is someone taking this batch number who can advise me on this batch please? Update

UPDATE How to gradually reduce dosage of desiccated thyroid (armour)?
A couple of weeks ago I posted asking about how would you go about reducing medication for genetic hypothyroidism. I was on 6 grains of Armour Thyroid which concerts roughly to 54mcg of t3 and 228mcg of T4. On this dosage I get in the higher quarter/ third of range for t3 and despite my average heart

Thyroid test results
I tested out of range high for THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODIES & THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES. I have been told by a doctor I do not have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis as the rest of my thyroid results are in range, however I may develop the thyroiditis in the future. Follow up testing is the plan as other test

thanks to those who replied to my question the other day about my gp wanting to reduce my meds (I have no thyroid following removal along with neck dissection due to papillary thyroid cancer). I that issue is resolved for now but I realised I am poorly informed about thyroid function tests and interactions

Hi guys, I'm on NDT. I've been waiting a while for a blood test as I have a lot going on, not just thyroid. Will the blood test result be ok? Feel so stupid! TIA

I am four months post total thyroidectomy, and in the first month or so I didn’t really feel many or any symptoms. Now in the past two months, I feel like I am feeling more symptoms of hypothyroidism than I did, in

T4/3 combo
I’ve been taking Armour Thyroid for over 20 years. Previously on NHS but we moved house to a different area and new GP wouldn’t even discuss it. Armour Thyroid is now very expensive and not easy to obtain. I’m concerned about the long term importing and prescribing issues. Long scenario but now under

Timings of NDT and iron supplements
Hi all, I'm struggling to maintain ferritin levels whilst also trying to adhere to the timings of iron supplements around my NDT and other vitamins. My ferritin is rarely higher than 20s (in the last ten years the highest it has been was 52 just once). I've been on NDT for a year and am gradually
