Increasing Gut Issues

Hiya.I am currently having increasing gut type issues with my current batch of NDT. When I increase the dose, which I need to for my levels to be optimum, I am getting increased belly swelling, painful trapped wind which runs from my throat down my oesophagus and abdomen. The last few days, my belly has become distended and crampy. I am on a gluten free and soya free diet, I limit my milk intake (going dairy free previously has not made any difference to my health), and I am drinking peppermint tea. I have even tried Rennie's Deflatin for the wind and bloating, but that doesn't make any difference. I am currently having a 'drawing' type feeling in my abdomen, and I am weeing a lot, but it's not painful. I have tried both probiotics and prebiotics previously, but they made me very gassy. It all seems very strange this is happening now as my diet has not changed at all. The only relief, which is minimal is drinking near boiling water and using a hot water bottle on my stomach. It is all very uncomfortable and concerning. Does anyone have any suggestions on what it could be and how to relieve it. I am wondering if my body is rejecting the ingredients of the NDT. It has been reformulated at some point. I have not had these issues before.

Thanks!

you say it’s been reformulated, what are the Ingredients in it and how does it compare with the old formulation?

No idea. The manufacturer won't publish the ingredients. It does and always had lots of binders and fillers, basically a chemical bath plus T4 and T3. It may be another binder they've used. I feel like I've had gluten, but they claim it's gluten free, that's all they will tell me.

With respect, I personally would not go near any company that did not disclose what was in their product. How do you even know how much of the T3 or T4 is actually in it?

Stay clear and find something that you can actually see what you are taking.

I gave up on NDT and take combination T4/T3 and find it better for me. At least I know what I’m taking.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I can't tolerate synthetic T4/T3. I am going to look into compounded NDT from a British Lab.

It could well be that the peppermint tea is making things worse.

Peppermint relaxes the sphincter between the esophagus and stomach thereby causing reflux and heartburn.

I flippin’ love mint but have had to remove it from my diet, sadly.

Oh, thanks, I thought it was supposed to be good for bloating and gas, that's all I've been drinking for the last few days. Appreciate that info.

Happened to me several times and always lasted 2-3 weeks, how long have you waited?

Around 2 weeks. What do you think the cause was for you?It happened when I started my current batch. It helped when I greatly reduced it, but that level of dose is too small for my levels.

I think it's hard to pinpoint it, levels are fluctuating, cells uptake varies. I just waited and it went away.
