Blood sugar levels
I've read that Prednisolone can spike blood sugar levels. I have a strong family history of late onset type 2 diabetes through the generations. I have ordered a blood glucose monitor, I thought it might be a good idea, like I monitor my blood pressure too.

Impaired Sensitivity to Thyroid Hormones Associated with Central Obesity in Euthyroid Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with Overweight & Obesity
A paper of possible interest. But it could be turned round and made YOUR FAULT for having impaired sensitivity. And dislike the language where high levels of TT3RI and TFQIFT3 are referred to as if they are real substances. Not that they are indexes based on measurements. Diabetes Metab

PMR, Prednisolone and diet
I have read a bit about the effect of Prednisolone on bone density and also on blood sugar. Can anyone give me a heads up on this as I have a family history of type 2 diabetes in later life and I have osteopenia (Dexa scan every 2-3 years)

Mody type 10
Hi, I’m Rexi and I’m from Germany. Over 30 years ago, I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I spent a year without insulin and have been taking insulin since then, but only very, very few units. Since my C-peptide level is still quite high and I have no antibodies, a genetic test for MODY was done. It

Atrial flutter patient information
Atrial flutter is a relatively common heart rhythm disturbance encountered by doctors, although not as common as Atrial Fibrillation (AF). It can affect adults of any age but is more common in older patients and is also more common in men. Please download our booklet

Statin Prescribing - UK NICE & QOF Guidance
The Quality Outcomes Framework does sometimes appear to be payment for prescribing statins, or gets described as such, but the actual wording is somewhat more nuanced than that. And it specifically recognises that not everyone should be on statins including patient saying no:

Has anyone tried Celadrin or Glucosamine Sulphate for Fibro?
Hi, I recently read an article about someone with fibromyalgia who said Celadrin cream really helped them with their stiff muscles. I then did some reading of my own about it and found that celadrin works best when combined with glucosamine sulphate. Has anyone tried either of these for their fibro?

Tips for a clean and clear blood test
Dear All, I'm asking you as I know you will have answers. I have a blood test arranged, not for Thyroid, I know those does and don'ts (thanks to HealthUnlocked). This test is to differentiate between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. I can go at a time I want, would it be best first thing, lunchtime

Glucosamine Sulphate.
Hello Fybro family, I hope you are all keeping as well as you can. Does anyone take the supplement Glucosamine Sulphate? A friend thought it might help with the pain & stiffness, though can't seem to find too much information about whether it helps with fibromyralgia. I'd be grateful in hearing about

Suspected Malabsorption
I have an underactive thyroid, after a few months of being diagnosed I was losing nutrients I told my doctor I thought I had malabsorption syndrome, they never said anything and they order a test for celiac but was negative, I've been supplementing with vitamins since.... But over the last 3 weeks/month

Cholesterol readings
Hello medically-minded people Tryimg to decide whether to take statins or not. This is my latest cholesterol test readings. Diabetes, pre-diabetes and a low carb diet
We bang on about cutting carbs when on pred and I thought you might be interested in this article about extremely low carb diets and reversing diabetes and weight gain. It isn't in pred patients but it does show how going low carb works and that it is sustainable on a relatively low income. The only

ONE - Prednisolone
I was diagnosed with the above around 9 months ago. I believe this was caused by Vivid as I was perfectly healthy before. I have been tapering down a couple of times then it seems to get worse and I'm back on it. However intelligent to back on although my doc said my blood test was a bit high and I

Tryptophan vs L-tryptophan, which is best?
I have long had a sneaky suspicion that serotonin is more important for me than dopamine. So now I am moving my focus to boosting those levels. I am completely confused about the difference between straight tryptophan, and the "L" kind. Anyone able to enlighten me?

It seems majorly Fatty lever is responsible for type-2 diabetes
Fatty lever causes insulin resistance and subsequent type-2 diabetes… .Excess fatty acids, the production of which is induced by lipogenesis and fatty acid synthesis, as well as oxidated fatty acids, circulate in peripheral tissues, including liver and adipose tissue, where they accumulate, resulting
