Side effects from Xtandi monotherapy?
after failing multiple times on regular ADT plus SBRT and finally failing LU– 177 and Provenge, my PSA went on the rise again. I’ve been on mono Xtando for six weeks and not feeling well despite trying to exercise heavily. Going in for bloodwork tomorrow. What kind of labs should I ask for? Anyone

What is Your Opinion on Docetaxel Added to Doublet Therapy for Early Oligorecurrent Metaststic M1a Prostate Cancer?
Hello, I have touched on this subject before, but it is something that is nagging at me and giving me some sleepless nights. My husband’s bio is updated for reference. At one year post prostatectomy with Stage 3b, he rose from 0.06 to 0.273 in three mos. At psa of 0.16 , a PSMA scan showed three sub

Embark study
Hi friends, When the Embark study came out, and the FDA approved Xtandi for its use, my MO was enthusiastic that I add Xtandi to my intermittent ADT treatment. What I'm wondering is, I can certainly understand that adding Xtandi to the intermittent ADT treatment delays average time to metastasis, but

Losing so much weight
My husband who has had his prostate removed, radiation, chemo, hormone therapy and 5 treatments of pluvicto (this is during 8 years) is now about to either get more radiation or chemo. He is just not eating and losing so much weight! I'm giving hime Ensure and whatever else he might eat but it's just

Prostate cancer radiotherapy side effects.
I’m a seventy seven year old who had a radical prostatectomy eight years ago. Following one of my regular PSA tests the result showed, after scans in September 2023, a return in the prostate bed and adjacent lymph nodes. Began hormone implants straight away followed by twenty doses of targeted radiotherapy

When is PARP introduced?
Hi My husband is currently on triple therapy ( Docetaxel chemo , Zoladex every 3 months and nubeqa) he has one more chemo round left next week. He is responding well so far as PSA is declining ( see profile for PSA) . I have seen some men are talking a PARP inhibitor and nubeqa and zoladex ( or ADT

Why do MO's continue to prescribe Lupron ADT for Castrate-Resistant men?
I've never understood why MO's continue to prescribe Lupron ADT (or equivalent ) for men who are
castrate-resistant (CRPC
). Isn't that the definition of CRPC, namely, that ADT is no longer working for those men? Why continue to prescribe a drug that no longer works and that causes such suffering

Losing my pubic hair
Recently I noticed that the skin on my inner legs in the crotch area under my scrotum turned brown and then started to peel like a sunburn. The exposed skin is a healthly pink hue and no longer brown but I lost my pubic hair from this area. Surprisingly the size and shape on the brown spots was very

Have you disclosed your self-medication to GP?
Hello Everybody, I've been successfully self-medicating with T4 and T3 or NDT, without GP's knowledge, since 2016. For the 30 years before that I could not get diagnosed for hypothyroidism because I am borderline central hypothyroid and my TSH never got high enough for the NHS diagnosis criteria.

question for those who have stopped Lupron after many years of ADT
I have been on Lupron for 8 years with the short-term exception of a high/T clinical trial,( but even during the trial I stayed on Lupron). Anyway I’m undetectable and decided to stop Lupron. 3 months after not getting my shot my T is now a whopping 37. I am curious to hear from some of you who

Letrozole
I saw the oncologist yesterday to discuss radiotherapy and hormone therapy. The plan for radiotherapy is on hold ATM because I have an ongoing issue with a seroma on the breast and underarm. During the meeting she said she would give me a prescription for Letrozole, I told her I wasn't happy to start

Treatment
My dears, after RP (Gleason 7, 4+3, infected 3 lymph nodes) and lymphadetectomy, radiation and hormone therapy for 39 months, my oncologist took me off hormone therapy with the recommendation of PSA control every 3 months. The last three PSA readings (every three months) were 0.01 / 0.00 / 0.00, I expect

Expectations
I have undergone 45 radiation treatments and am on my last month of Eligard. PSA is undetectable and my T is barely existent. No mets detected on prior pet scans. My Urologist and Oncologist are giving me congrats. I understand this is probably a temporary remission (g 4+3 - stage 2/3) but I wonder

Recommended by numerous research papers that thyroid testing should be in the morning and before taking daily levothyroxine TSH has a circadian rhythm and is highest in early morning and lowest in afternoon Links to a few research papers and articles https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc

Getting the NDT dosage right
Hello again friends, I'm writing again in the hope that your collective expertise will come up with a solution for me. I switched from Levothyroxine to NDT (NP Thyroid) some time back, and I've been testing every 12 weeks and tweaking the dose trying to get it right. The latest results, which arrived

What does it mean?
I'm slightly embarrassed to be asking strangers on the internet, but I'm a little frustrated by the lack of information given by the doctors. My dad (63) just got diagnosed - Gleason score 8 - and after a new scan they've concluded there's two mets - one in the pelvic lymph node and one in the seminal

Pain post SBRT
I'm 59 w/ aPC (4+5) and 7 mets - all bone mets. Started on ADT (Firmagon and Nubeqa) in October 2023. Completed 6 cycles of docetaxel 4 wks ago. Started SBRT yesterday. My side effects thus far were all expected and I was prepared for them. Last night had severe back pain (8 out of 10) which lasted

ADT IS DONE. NEXT?
Lupron and Zytiga will have completed 2 years of each in June. I've read some continue Lupron for 3 years or longer. How do you know how long to take? Monitor testosterone and PSA how often? 2 or 3 months?
