Losing my pubic hair

Recently I noticed that the skin on my inner legs in the crotch area under my scrotum turned brown and then started to peel like a sunburn. The exposed skin is a healthly pink hue and no longer brown but I lost my pubic hair from this area. Surprisingly the size and shape on the brown spots was very similiar on both the left and right sides.

I have been on ADT for 18 months and am about to start my 3rd cycle of chemo (carboplatin+etoposide). Up to this point I have not had many issues with hair loss, just torso and I had almost no hair there to begin with.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Is this an indication I'm about to lose my pubic hair?

Not concerned, just curious.

Hard to understand why no one wants to discuss your scrotum.๐Ÿ˜€

Maybe if I changed the title of the post to 'Help - losing my pubic hair' I might get more engagement.

Bowing to decorum I retitled the post.

Try waxing, do crack and back if needed as well

Really?

I'm not interested but I don't think the woman's clinics will do men.

I'm ok with the mangy look.

A nice Brazilian wax job. Your wife can hold your hand during the event.

For me, the answer is: Yes, I have experienced it - pubic, chest, and underarm (and head, of course!) hair lost - my body hair did not come back except for mangy stragglers. Go team body image! ;)

Yes, I already lost chest and underarm hair. It just seemed to fade away over time.

The brown spots and peeling is what I currently find unusual. I'm going to get it checked out.

One advantage is less shaving and manscapping.

Given the science behind menโ€™s hair loss we should be GROWING more hair on our heads as DHT levels drop.

I have experienced that. Hair loss all over my body, but more hair on my head.

I canโ€™t say that if it s the same but I had darker patches appear on my thighs and arms (not many) but they became purplish or brown and peeled a bit (small raised bits).

After pursuing the doctors and got dermatologist to see it and had biopsy, it turns out is is Lichens Planus. Itโ€™s an unusual autoimmune response and there are different types - itโ€™s not that serious but if in genital areas or lesions on the mouth it is slightly more important to get a proper diagnosis- only really diagnosed by biopsy. All medics even dermatology said probably nothing but I was keen to have the biopsy anyway as on ADT (zoladex) and had radiation for Gleason 9.

Maybe totally different but I think mine is a result of the PCa treatments. Hair loss in the patch areas is common even in the scalp.

Thanks, you've inspired me to go get it checked out.

I'm from Canada too. Being treated at BC Cancer - Victoria. I never had an issue with burned skin. I lost almost all my body hair during chemo. The hair on the top of my head didn't completely disappear and it recovered afterward. A lot of my body hair has not come back, including much of my pubic hair, eyebrows, and eye lashes. I think the ADT is responsible for that.

I saw my MO yesterday and he was surprised I hadn't lost any hair from my head after 2 cycles of chemo. He told me many men begin losing their hair after the 1st cycle.

Both the NP and MO had no comment on the brown spots. They seem to have resolved but I'll keep monitoring and bring it up again if it recurs.

It happened to me shortly after the second cycle. Hair on the pillow and then started falling on my dinnerplate. I had my partner shave my head at that point.

Yes, that's my plan also. If I do start losing my head hair and it gets all spotty and mangy I'll definitely shave my head.

Almost two years on ADT. Lost underarm, chest and most of my leg hair. Kept some pubic hair but definitely less robust. Interestingly, my head and beard are unchanged. She is a fickle mistress.๐Ÿ˜„

I'll add my pubes, underarms, arms and legs to the lost hair brigade! But I only have to shave every 3-4 days and no further head hair loss on ADT for 4 years now๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

yes very much expected for the most part. I am just now (several weeks post chemo but currently doing radiation) starting to regrow some pubes.

I had spots that I attributed to radiation and the hair loss to ADT. Seeing as I look like one of those hairless cats when it comes to body hair I wasn't surprised about the nether regions. Luckily still have tge right amount from the neck up so I am not complaining.

FYI (USA)

Short answer: Par for the course. No cancer growth but lots of side effects.

Long answer:

Being on ADT [Androgen deprivation therapy - Eligard/Erleada/Xgeva (bone)] for going on 3 years now. This means I have virtually no PSA and no Testosterone, which is great, as not everyone responds to treatment. Lucky me. It also means that I end up with some female hormones left.

That being said, I now have more feminine qualities than masculine. Used to be 'Hercules' and now I am a fat round 'Barney Fife'. Ugh! Embarrassing! BUT! I am alive! I do this for my wife.

It also means, for me, no body hair (small amount of pubic still left, not black) except what I had as a child (born tow head = no color in body hair). All black hair is gone. Left with skin toxicity also meaning I now have to treat for 'jock itch.' [Yeast infections]

Best of luck! Prayers! Godspeed!

You should lighten up.

You're 83, I'm 63 - review some of my previous posts - if I make it to 64-65 I'll be lucky. So I got lots of problems. There's nothing wrong with a little goofing around while I'm still alive.

Thank goodness I lost mine now and not in my "active" days. My line used to be "Hey sweets do you have pubic hair on your crotch?" If she said yes, I would say, "so do I. Wanna tie knots?"

How is it going?

With respect to the brown spots, they seem to have resolved themselves. Talked to MO who didn't have an opinion.

As far as hair loss goes, it seems to be happening at a slow rate. A noticeable thinning out of hair over time.

Just chalk it up to ongoing cancer treatment SE's.

I resolved my brown spots by switching to brown underwear.
