Bone Mets & Bone Density - two different topics?
Since I was concerned about the fractures that many have mentioned here, and paranoid about ending up in a wheelchair, I asked my GP to refer me for a bone densitometry test. I have the results now. Despite my extensive bone mets, and my age of 75, the test indicated that I'm at a low probability

The next step
Hi Nice ladies, I have been on Taxol but because of side effects decided to try something else. The neuropathy seems to be increasing with this. Doc agrees, suggested other options; Eribulin, Tamoxifen or Gemzar. I am leaning toward Tamoxifen but need to think about it. If you have any input I welcome

Estrogen therapy rediscovered
Before Lupron got FDA approval, prostate cancer was treated with orchiectomy or estrogens. The latter was done with diethylstilbestrol (DES) offered as fosfestrol and many further names. In India diethylstilbestrol is offered as Honvan and still used today against prostate cancer. In men, the required

Gynecomastia and ADT?
When I asked my URO about using 10 mg Tamoxifen for gynecomastia....she said the following: All of the studies I could find on using tamoxifen were in patients on biclutamide. As far as I understand, the GNRH antagonists shouldn't cause the same shift in the estrogen levels which is what causes the

Liver Injury and tamoxifen
I recently checked on my understanding that tamoxifen use was not associated with liver dysfunction. It seems that I misremembered what I read. Although other cancer medications may have more serious negative effects on the liver, tamoxifen use also may result in liver problems. Some of you may find

Tamoxifen
Has anyone tried tamoxifen to treat their ovarian cancer? My mom was told it has a 10% chance of working, so we are aware that it is not used much because of the low success rate. This is kind of a last ditch effort before hospice. I’m just wondering if anyone else tried tamoxifen for ovarian cancer

One year post mastectomy.
Well one year is arriving. This time last time year I saw my consultant with the results of a second biopsy. I had already decided on a mastectomy and had accepted a date at the time of first biopsy confirmation of Grade 2 breast cancer. The second biopsy also was confirmed cancer and was told I needed

Hormone therapy after salvage rt
Hi all Looking for some more advice. I am about to complete my radiotherapy treatment tomorrow and my RO has prescribed a further six months of hormone therapy, Tamoxifen and Bicalutamide. My PSA test last week showed that my PSA was undetectable 0.001 and my testosterone at 19.5. I just wondered if

Is an enlarged liver 'par for the course' with NAFLD?
Hi everyone. I'm new to this disease and trying to get a better understanding. I'm guessing my liver has been fatty for some years already, but my liver enzymes in March 2019 were normal. Then I started taking Tamoxifen for breast cancer tx. The next few blood tests showed my ALT at around 60. I coincidentally

In focus: targeted therapies - hormone therapies
Hello This month in our Health in Focus series, we’re looking at targeted therapies. Cancer cells behave differently from healthy cells in a number of ways. These behaviours can make them more vulnerable to damage. Targeted therapies are drugs that disrupt this abnormal behaviour, causing the cells to
