Good PMR specialist in Bristol/WestonSM?
He says I am too young - I’m 56 - and he’s run every test in the book on me (MRI, PET, chest x-ray, ultrasound) and all negative ( though I was sure they would be, given that I was on such a high dose of
steroids
.)

Struggling to reduce, despite slow descent
I am feeling pretty despondent about where I am going though I know the
steroids
are valuable and my only option to make life manageable. I developed PMR symptoms in March/April 2022 and was given the diagnosis in May by a rheumatologist who I saw privately.

Specialist wanted me off
steroids
as quick as I could as it mask so much . So I achieved in six months going from 15mil to 5mil . Never have I endured so much pain . I need a rest before I go to zero . My question is I had severe swelling in feet & upper leg that's painful & making walking hard.

Has anyone heard of Parsonage Turner Syndrome? Out of interest.
I don’t believe I have PMR anymore, despite the discomfort and exhaustion, but am completely stuck on
steroids
. It’s going to be very difficult to reduce. I tried 7mg one morning and my body missed that 0.5mg . I know 7.5mg isn’t covering my needs but am trying to live with it .

Wound healing thoughts?
No-one here wil be suprised to learn that no doctor has examined it, and the practice nurses who've done the dressing have no advice to add in relation to
steroids
or my general health. Any thoughts, advice, tips would be welcome Thanks x

Just manage the exacerbations with a short course of oral
steroids
. it seems still that not many people are offered this medication, not many professionals seem to have heard about it either, which is why I am sharing my experience of taking it on here.

Thank you and update 🙂
Having been up and down trying to taper off
steroids
which was very hard my consultant has agreed to keep me on them for 12 months which I’m over joyed about as they’ve helped me so much, wish they’d agreed to them years ago. Rash on my face has gone, I’m going make up free!

Steroid-based inhaler warning
**Moderator note to anyone reading: if you have similar concerns please speak to a medical professional - don't stop your steroid inhaler or any other
if you're worried about adrenal insufficiency. It's dangerous for both adrenals and asthma.

Update on Cataracts
She didn't seem to take it on board that I have to be on
steroids
for the GCA & told me that they are causing me real problems with my eyes.

Cataracts & GCA
I then had them tested again in April this year as the blurriness I had experienced since diagnosis was getting worse - told this time it was the
steroids
/GCA & that once off the
steroids
they 'should' settle down again. He also said ' no change in prescription'.

Brain fog, weakness meds or tumour?
I take
steroids
in the morning and Keppra at night and experience a constant brain fog and weakness to limbs which I am unsure as to whether it is due to the meds or the tumour. The brain fog is variable but appears worse if I don't sleep well.

Took a month of
steroids
- no change. Hands shaking, tingly fingers and feet, balance was off, really struggling at work and a friend told me to go back to my GP - later told me she thought it was Parkinson’s.

Hair loss- PMR- Prednisolone
Is this due to
steroids
or PMR? Does anyone have the same experience? I find it quite distressing to have so much coming out every time I brush or wash my hair. Your thoughts please.

Immunology when using donor eggs
I think I'm quite worried that most clinics spoke to do not offer immunes treatment other than low dose
steroids
and clexane. I had tests which showed high NK cells and cytokines and had tried intralipids and IVIG to address it (to be fair, my transfer still didn't work in spite of using them).
