Diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer 2016.
Hello everyone. I was diagnosed late 2016 with metastatic prostate cancer with mets near esophagus, aorta and groin. PSA was12. Biopsies gave Gleeson score 8. A top surgeon told me surgery no longer an option because it had spread and put me on ADT Zoladex. I elected to have monthly 3.6mg implants

ADT or Brachytherapy Boost - plus External Beam Radiotherapy for Localized PCa.
New meta-analysis below [1] [2]. I remember a significant study where brachy boost reduced PCa mortality but not overall mortality, so I would be wary of it. However, some feel that reducing PCa death is worthwhile even if it does increase the risk of death from other causes. "In men with localized

Hi there, in February of this year my mum was diagnosed with stage 3B squamous cell non-small cell lung cancer. It's been an emotional roller coaster. The doctors have been very positive about my mum. She was given aggressive chemo and radiation which she completed 2 months ago and recently started on

Recently diagnosed metastatic
Hello everyone I'm caroline, 39 and in the UK. July 2015 I was diagnosed with primary Her2 positive BC, had mastectomy, chemo, herceptin injections for 12 months, and radiotherapy, treatment ended Feb 2016 with NED. I had a bone scan just before lockdown here as I'd had the odd niggle of discomfort

UCSF
Hey everyone Curious if anyone has had any type of Radiation treatment at UCSF. Just curious I have an upcoming appointment. I spoke (video) with one of their Surgeons. Of course he said RP was the way to go but I’m thinking for myself Radiating would be better.

Post treatment sensitivity to mosquito bites
Has anyone experienced a change in their body's reaction to mosquito bites after undergoing ADT and/or radiation therapy? As a kid, I got the usual hive like welt when they bit me, and eventually -- up until this year -- I've had almost no reaction when bitten. Now I get an extremely itchy blister

In the face of adversity
Hi everyone I wanted to share my story with you in the hope it will help you with the pain you are going through now. At the age of 15 I developed Hodgkin disease. But it wasn’t diagnosed until I was 17 and was at stage 4. The doctors were not expecting me to survive but after a battle I did as a result

Now breast, lung, bowel and prostate cancer can all be treated in a WEEK as patients receive shorter courses of radiotherapy.
Thousands of cancer patients are set to be spared from weeks of back-to-back hospital visits – after studies and trials have shown that five days of treatment, or even less, can be just as effective at blasting away tumours. People having radiotherapy, which uses powerful radiation beams to kill cancer

PSA How low should it go?
I have positive regional lymph nodes, no treatment. There is only palliative cancer management. It turns out that the radiotherapy you performed was very successful. Thanks a lot. When I come to Turkey I will thank you properly. My last measured test level PSA 0.007. Is this a pretty good result? And

Are Frequent Scans Safe.
I have stage four metastatic breast cancer. My Oncologist has me going for a CAT scan and a full body bone scan every three months. Aren't those scans loaded with radiation? If they are damaging is it a good idea to have so many scans. I am quite worried about this. I am on Ibrance and Letrozole

PSA: “How low should it go“ ?
My last measured test level PSA 0.007ng/ml And radiotherapy still works and can further reduce PSA. Now I take an eligard which also lowers the PSA. I have an idea to start taking Casodex 150 for a double blockade. My goal is to lower uPSA further and reach a level of uPSA <0.003 where the cancer appears

A biochemical definition of cure after brachytherapy for prostate cancer - Radiotherapy and Oncology, Published: April 27, 2020
Looks like 4 years of <0.2 PSA post-treatment gets you a "biochemical cure". (= disease-free beyond 10 years.)
Study Highlights • Close to 80% of men 4–5 years after LDR prostate brachytherapy will achieve a PSA of 0.2 ng/ml or less. • PSA ≤ 0.2 ng/ml is associated with 97–99%

chemo Cycle 4
Restarted Chemo after surgery this week, with Cabo, Taxol and Avastin followed by filgrastim injection 24 hours later. Chemo session 8 hours so a long day on my own with the nurses and FaceTime etc but we coped very well considering. Just waiting for side effects to kick in (if any). CA125 down to 35

Topics for 'In focus' and suncare
Hello As many of you will remember, we've posted weekly 'In focus' posts with a different theme each month. Previous themes have included lymphoedema, menopause, complementary therapies, diet and stomas. We haven't been doing 'In focus' recently because of COVID-19 but we're planning to start again

ALL 8 Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center PCa nomograms
Since there seemed to be some uncertainty as to what I had shared on a previous post, here are all 8 PCa nomograms and the explanations for each....... https://www.mskcc.org/nomograms/prostate (1) Our pre-radical prostatectomy nomogram is for patients diagnosed with prostate cancer who have not yet
