Ways to Reduce Cyclosporine Toxicity
One of the worst threats to the survival of kidney transplants is the toxicity to the kidneys of cyclosporine. Many scientific studies have shown that the amino acid arginine, which is widely available as a supplement, can prevent graft loss due to cyclosporine toxicity. However, a study in using arginine

Paracetamol does not work
Hi all Following on from another post regarding paracetamol I noticed that almost every sub-thread includes at least one response along the lines of āsafe, negligible side-effects, painkiller, better than x, just paracetamol etc etc ā, and despite posting a link to one of the most trustworthy research

Rejected for Liver transplant
Unfortunately my wife got the bad news last night, that she is not being offered a liver transplant. I did ask why she has been turned down & it was revealed she was unable to complete the necessary physical tests, but I believe it is a combination of her age 69 & the fact that she was not strong enough

Why is this necessary?
Diagnosed GCA, on Pred , however Consultant has recommended an Endoscopy and Colonoscopy. I do not have any symptoms and feel bad enough, so I declined?

Hot Flushes increasing
I reduced my prednisolone from 10mg to 9mg at the beginning of February and just about coping with the soreness but have noticed an increase in facial hot flushes and night sweats. Has anyone else felt these side effects have got worse as you reduce?

We are on the brink of a new kind of medicine
As patients we worry about today and will we be better or worse tomorrow so we barely glimpse the broader medical dynamic that is remaking the very concept of medical care. There has never been a time like this in human history. Between 1750 and 1850 medical knowledge doubled. It doubled again by 1920

Am I the only one?
I develop pains when I am under stress and panic - usually my stomach, I get trapped gas under my ribs, I belch, I start to have panic attacks and imagine I have every deadly disease out there. It can be triggered by a pharmecutical commercial. I lost my brother last year and his birthday was 2/2.

Lung transplant
This week my lung specialist asked me if I would want to have a lung transplant. So I am going to go to Toronto and meet with the transplant team and see what a lung transplant is all about. So my question for everyone is, if you had a chance to get a lung transplant would you get one done, and why ?

What a year - and some good news to end it
Back in February I was preparing for a
stem
cell
transplant
. Luckily I transferred to another hospital and thank god I did. After a long year of tests - spleen scans, repeat BMBs etc - theyāre now confident I have a slightly progressed form of ET that is remaining nice and stable.

Liver failure due to heart defects, need to buy time.
My grandson was born with congenial heart defects. A Fontan repair to make his half a heart work gave him 18 yrs, but the portal pressures caused scarring in his liver & he faces heart & liver transplant. How can we slow the damage? No one ever suggested diet to lower liver stress. Detox the liver? Buying

I can remember my first anxiety attack when I was 16. I was in my early 20ās when my friend and boyfriend brought me home and put me to bed. They later said they could hear me thrashing around in bed like I was running with my feet under the covers. I had rls attacks over the years. Years later my father
