Metformin protective against PCa in diabetic patients.
We aimed to analyze the chemopreventive role of metformin, in conjunction with other putative chemopreventive medications (
statins
, proton-pump-inhibitors, alpha-blockers, 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors, diabetic medications) in a population-based cohort study.

Calling for a revolution in the treatment of MPNs?
This might entail, from the earliest stages soon after diagnosis of ET or PV, the use of medications such as Interferon, Janus Kinase inhibitors (eg: Ruxolitinib), even
statins
, rather than (for example) Aspirin and Hydroxycarbamide/Hydroxyurea.

Meds problem update
At first I was advised not to do this, but have since been told it is okay, but I do need to consider
statins
. Just over 4 weeks in and the nerve pain is increasing to intolerable levels.

Post hospital visit
I am now on isorsobide, Ranolazine and bisoprolol as well as my normal ramipril, aspirin and
statins
. My confusion is with the way forward. Angina and the way it came on me in a short measured space of time says to me that there has been more narrowing of the arteries.

Statin Dosage
In a conversation with my Family Practicioner who prescribes my atorvastatin, I mentioned a recent study that suggests a positive effect of
statins
on advanced prostate cancer mortality. If I read the study correctly, most of the patients were using high potency
statins

Covid 19 a vascular disease ?
In another paper that looked at nearly 9,000 people with Covid-19, Mehra showed that the use of
statins
and ACE inhibitors were linked to higher rates of survival.

He’s allergic to
statins
. Last PSA draw the CMP showed Glucose 286 AST and ALT elevated. They were always at the top level but still in normal range. Now they aren’t. I think the Pralulent may be causing this since he’s not on Zytiga. However, for the first time he had a normal cholesterol level.

UPDATE: Cholestrol and Statins (confused and irritated)
I post this the other day here and was suggested I go to the cholesterol site (not helpful) they don't get the thyroid connection with Cholestrol and after I was done I felt like I ate myself to this horrible cholesterol...lol I alway had high cholesterol levels even when I weighed 120 pounds anyway

Unsure about specialist
I asked her whether I should be taking
statins
. My local doctor had previously said I should read up on
statins
first because my cholesterol was only 3.6 although he did say I had a 12 percent chance of having a stroke or heart attack in the next 10 years. (family history of heart attacks).
