PMR diagnosis , Pred, and slightly high CK maybe statin induced pain.
Took that only the once, it was enough to rebound into agony, so I'm left wondering about the statin situation and PMR or is it the start of Myopathy caused by
statins
as many people complain of just that, But I have to say the pain is excruciating before the pred.

Statins
Hi. I am taking a statin for high cholesterol, around 200. It’s working, but I have terrible muscle/joint pain. Is anyone taking something other than a statin for high cholesterol? Are there many side effects? Appreciate any advice.

Sudden decrease in GFR
So I started taking
Statins
as prescribed. After 15 days my GFR lowered to 54 and furthermore, now its 48. I’m visiting a nephrologist and she has prescribed me another tablet for BP as my BP was 140/95 and all it went up due to stress. I haven’t started BP meds yet anyhow.

Ezetimibe and diet
I am suffering from bloating, gas and abdominal pain all of which are known side-effects of ezetimibe (and, sometimes,
statins
too). I know some of you hearties will be taking this same combination of cholesterol lowering meds.

Calcification of Coronary Artery
The doctor has prescribed

Thoughts on cholesterol/statins
May well be chat about diet, but I’m a bit cautious, in case this is to discuss starting
statins
. Last year I saw a different GP who said my cholesterol levels were ‘phenomenal’ for my age.

High cholesterol...
Hello everyone, my doctor wants to put me on
statins
due to my high level of cholesterol. However, I have read a fascinating article by Thyroid U.K. about the link between an under-active thyroid and high cholesterol - and I wonder if, by raising my level of T3, my cholesterol could be lowered.

The French Paradox - Why the French Have the Lowest Incidence of Heart Disease in the Developed World
At which point in October of 2016 I completed my weaning-off of all heart medications including
statins
and baby aspirin. I consume a Mediterranean Diet, and exercise daily. I do NOT consume any processed foods and eat mostly home-cooking.

I asked for a period of time without starting esetimibe I was convinced all my dietary efforts would bring down my cholesterol naturally. How wrong can you be. Got results yesterday 5.1 gone up from 3.3 when taking
statins
that were poisoning me.

In vitro support for Simvastatin
December 1, 2021 One of the growth mechanisms of castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) is de novo androgen synthesis from intracellular cholesterol, and
statins
may be able to inhibit this mechanism.
