Sensitive to medication

Since H/A sept 2020 had a myriad of problems with meds. I know I’m not alone. I can say that I felt better in Feb2021 than at any time since.

I’ve had uncontrollable diarrhoea which nothing was done about until they discovered that not only was I allergic to Atorvastatin but Rosuvastatin was causing me muscle wastage.

Off statins at present but it will be replaced by Esetimibe.

Prasugrel finished after a year and the diarrhoea finally started to slow down.

I can’t remember feeling well for all this time despite having changed my diet completely . I have lost2.1/2 stone. Plant based with fish and occasional chicken. I really cannot see what else I can do.

Off statins I asked for a period of time without starting esetimibe I was convinced all my dietary efforts would bring down my cholesterol naturally. How wrong can you be. Got results yesterday 5.1 gone up from 3.3 when taking statins that were poisoning me.

Worried about starting esetimibe now because I’m so sensitive to these meds. I just want to feel well again.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Like you, I react badly to a very broad spectrum of medications and received very little support. I took the decision that I either live the rest of my life debilitated by the meds, or I ween myself off them and do the best I can health wise to give my body the best chance.

Put pressure on your GP and cardiologist, but ultimately only you can make the decision about what is best for your future.
