Run low on Meds on holiday
I didn't have enough
statins
, ramipril or indapamide. We went into a chemists with the old boxes and strait away they issued them over the counter at a cost of €11. They wouldn't do that in the UK. Hope all you readers have a good day today Tuesday 26/09/23 we start driving back.

Statins for heart failure
I've read mixed reviews about
statins
for heart failure , and neither my heart surgeon or Cardiologist have suggested it. What are peoples views or experiences on taking
Statins
for this reason ? Thanks in anticipation .

I have FH and been on
statins
25 years. Am under Endocrinology as they were also looking at my thyroid. In the meantime in May I got rushed to hospital with sepsis and told I had a heart murmur which ended up with me having an aortic valve replacement.

I’m currently not taking
statins
. My GP has just called to say we’d like to put you on them, risk of stroke at 15% apparently and anyone over 10 should be treated. I politely said I felt I had enough going on drugwise, without adding another.

Medicine for life
I know aspirin and
statins
are for life and I don’t mind to take all 6 for sake reducing the risk in future. Still curious if Anyone one on similar medication and managed to come out of them .

I’m type 1 diabetic, my whole cholesterol was 4.6 and my bad cholesterol was 3.0 Tried two
statins
didn’t agree with me, now went to lipid clinic, was put on Rosuvastatin which agrees with me, the only problem is my sugar levels go skyrocketing for a good few hours after i take it.

More on statins
Then I recalled my GP from 20 years ago mentioning that
statins
deplete the body of CoQ10... I never paid attention because I wasn't on
statins
at the time but whatever... So my recent research confirmed this is true in many cases....

prevastatin 10mg
my Doctors have been trying to get my cholesterol down further they tried three
statins
I asked to try a very low dose ofPrevastatin 10mg started this 4th July. I haven’t experienced any side effects so far that’s good but I am very nervous as I know
statins
can effect your liver.

is it safe to stop taking statins suddenly?
I have been taking them for a couple of years now, no obvious side effects, but am wondering if they could be causing muscle aches. I am in early 70s so could be just my age, but I would like to try anyway

Update following long-awaited GP appointment for results of Thyroid blood test
Said I didn't want
statins
and also reminded her that it seems high cholesterol and hypothyroidism go hand in hand as I only developed this since having thyroid issues.

Atorvastatin
I had been resisting my GPs' calls to take
statins
for some years having pointed out to them that although they were saying a total cholesterol level around 6 was too high the ratio of HDL to LDL was good. About eighteen months ago I acquiesceded and started taking Atorvastatin.

Gout - why fish protein but not beer?
I’m intolerant to
statins
(liver damage caused by a trial of
statins
) and cholesterol is therefore controlled through diet. It’s elevated and good to bad is at a healthy ratio.

Saw my Cardiologist Today
He's also happy with the current med regime and also endorsed the pharmacist's plan for re-introducing
statins
. Going to keep eye on me and have me back in for a preventative clinc before Christmas. Didn't dismiss my mental state either which was good.
