Norovirus and atrial fibrillation
Had an ablation back in May 2022 but not heard from the hospital since the procedure. Generally not been too bad apart from 1 week with ectopics, bigeminals and trigeminals. Still on apixaban and 200mg of sotalol though.... That is, until now. I picked up my mother from hospital on Friday and started

Carboplatin
Had a good year on Taxol and it knocked my CA15 down to almost normal but its creeping back up and my PET shows new activity. We discussed a ton of options and I am grateful there are so many. We also re-ran my original tumors through some more advanced genetic testing. The bottom line next drug is

Prescribed Amlodipine
I have recently been prescribed Amlodipine for high blood pressure , I was told to take it for a month & then make another appointment to see the doctor. I haven’t started taking it yet, I am to be honest, afraid, after reading the leaflet side effects section, example, 1 in 10 have reported palpitations

Stay on current meds or switch to Sotalol?
Following my second ablation I have been told that my PAF has non pulmonary triggers. Whilst they seem happy to try a third ablation where I think they will isolate different part of the atrium and then chase trigger points there seems little confidence that this will be successful. I am also not overly

Sotalol taking with or without food
In the drug literature, it says "take it with or without food, but be consistent". I've found this difficult. Sometimes I end up taking it with food, sometimes without, I'm not consistent. I've noticed that maybe I don't get as much of a dosage some days as others due to changes in how I'm feeling

Ectopics regularity
hi everyone my first Cardioversion was September for AF then mid December another for A Flutter. I’ve been on 12.5mg Metopropol twice a day since December. Last week I started getting regular ectopics I think brought on by drinking 2 Gatorade’s during golf then a ginger beer after then went out for

switch from sotalol (80 mg x2) to bisoprolol and flecanide 50 mg x2
has anyone made this change? I was on Bisoprolol and Fleca for years then my cardio decided to put me on sotalol, I’m in afib everyday for 24 hours with just 2 days off. Sotalol bothers my stomach and I want to go back to bisoprolol and Fleca now as PIP. With bisoprolol the main drug keeping things

Breakthrough episode (Update)
My EP only put me on a miniscule dosage of sotalol as I was doing it out of hospital and couldn't be directly monitored (40mg twice a day). I feel 1000 times better, no kidding, since starting the sotalol even at this low dose. No more daily PVCs, no more extreme fatigue. After checking my QTC to

Phlegm
I have been on sotalol and apixaban for over 2 years now. I also take prednisolone and famotidine for polymyalgia. For the last few months I am finding I have to clear my throat of some phlegm, it's not frequent and doesn't bother me too much and I have no other symptoms such as breathlessness etc, but

Pace and ablate
I have had AF for over 20 years. Have taken sotalol, for a few years, then metoprolol and Flecainide up to now in decreasing doses as over the last few years I have had 3 ablations. To completely give up taking medication I have been told I would need to do the 'Ablate and Pace' procedure. I would

Hello Everyone, just stopping by to say hello. I was diagnosed with stage 3C high grade serous ovarian cancer way back in September 2007. I remember searching online to see if I could find any long term survivors of this cancer and now I am that person. So I’m just posting here today in the hope that

So interesting feelings..
So now that I am on sotalol, I am ecstatic to say I haven't any ectopics, nor any arrhythmias since starting it. A tiny bit of dizziness soon after the first few doses, but ok since from the medications. However... now that my heart is calm after eating, I'm noticing persistence of some of the other

Trust your doctors, but also don't hesitate to double check them if you feel you should
When my previous EP had suggested flecainide, I was hesitant immediately. Primarily because I did not feel listened to, as though he was just applying the broad brush to me when he needed to be more careful. Then I did some research on it, and I felt I confirmed I should be hesitant, so I refused

Getting Xeloda delivered Wednesday
Yesterday I got a phone call from a specialty pharmacist who will be sending my first round of Xeloda out on Monday. She had questions for me and told me I will be on a 3 week schedule, 2 weeks taking Xeloda twice a day and then 1 week off. They will phone me to see how I am doing and then send me

Sotalol dehydration
I just started Sotalol yesterday, and reading the side effects list, I have been diligent to make sure I am drinking lots of water. I still have a very dry mouth and headache all last night. Will I adjust after taking it a little while, or do I need even more water? I also already struggle with constipation
