low grade ovarian cancer in the lungs

I had pleural effusion for 2 years. My doctor didn't say that the cancer could get into the lungs but it did.

I received 6 rounds of weekly taxol and carbo platin but it didn't work. Now my doctor wants to stop all treatment and send me to hospice care.

please let me know if you have had that experience and know how to manage it. I am not ready to give up.

I agree, don’t give up! You need a second opinion asap, your doctor is suppose to be fighting your corner and they seem to have just given up.

Im sure there will be more options for you xx

Hi Alex29. If your diagnosis is specifically low grade OC has your oncology team explored the treatment route specifically for low grade OC?

For example hormone inhibitors and Trametinib?

Have you looked at the info available on cureourovariancancer website which is a charity specific for research into low grade OC?

LGOC is known to be less responsive to chemo. So just because it’s not working it doesn’t mean that there is nothing else to try. Some oncology teams aren’t familiar with it and might need to seek advice from an LGOC specialist.

thank you for your advice. I was on tremetanib and partially worked but did not fix the lungs. I haven't tried hormone inhibitors. I will work on that

Please get a second opinion asap from a top cancer center and a specialist in low grade. I don’t know where you live but MD Anderson, Mayo Clinic, MSK in NY, Dana Farber in Boston are some good options.

I went to MD Anderson last year. I can't flight back there now but I will try to get an online appointment.

can you request you take part in a trial ? There are some excellent immunotherapy drugs undergoing clinical trials — Don’t give up and please ask to be referred to a specialist centre . 🙏❤️

I would have to convince my doctor. She thinks immunotherapy won't work. Not giving any alternative treatment either 😨
