Hi ladies. So six months in on weekly taxol and catequintanib at the marsden it was going so well I had partial response which was good. Then a month later I started to get pains in my stomach and rising ca125 the next scan showed I had progression and some new spots, so was referred back to my usual oncologist to see if they would give me any more lines of chemo as this was my third. In the meantime I was admitted to hospital with a bowel obstruction that cleared after 4 days but scan showed I have a tumour there so it might happen again. My oncologist basically said that there was nothing else so keep the pain under control but would refer me back to the Marsden to see if any more trials come up but if my bowel plays up then I probably wouldn't get one!! I feel so disappointed! I still don't think I've accepted this as I feel surely this can't be the end and there's nothing else to try! Im going to get a second opinion but don't really know where to go, considering private to get in quick. Any advice would help. 🙏🏼 xx
trial stopped working : Hi ladies. So six months... - My Ovacome
trial stopped working
Might a visit to an expert surgeon be in order? Perhaps they could operate on that tumour and mitigate the problem with blockage? I have no experience of this but just thinking aloud xx
prof Jayson at Christie’s? Sending you a big hug. Xx
When my frontline chemo failed I decided to pay to see a specialist in London. You need a referral from your oncologist or your GP. I went to see Dr Rebecca Kristeleit at the London Clinic. I looked up her secretary online and phoned up and made an appointment which I got within 2 weeks. My records were sent from my local hospital. Dr K sent me straight to the UCLH Clinical Research Facility.
I paid £360.00 for an hour in 2017. I have to say that it was worth every penny.
If it were I it would depend on how I feel. If you feel like fighting or going for palliative care. You are the only one who can decide but a 2nd opinion always good idea
Thank you all for your replies. I've had a good think and now decided to go for a second opinion to see if there is anything else I could try. Fingers crossed xx
are you sure they have done everything tested both tumor and you ? I am on what is considered 5th line chemo! Only off chemo for a couple of months here and three months there diagnosed in Dec 2019 I honestly thought I was going to join my teal sisters two months ago…… I was so weak and in pain the cancer spread to my liver. I started Abraxane and thought it hasn’t knocked it completely down there hasn’t been progress. It is quite tolerable but I have lost so much muscle it is hard to walk long distances or ride my horse. I am working out in our pool and hoping that will help. Also dealing with severe lymphodema in right leg but not giving up . Ca 125 has gone down by 500 points and there may be a trial I can qualify for if it stops working. I also have to get drained every two weeks right now but hopefully this will change
MY SAYING TEAL LADIES STAY STRONG!
