Having a STEMI in mid 40's...the search for underlying causes / answers for premature CHD.
Hi Everyone, My husband had a major STEMI in March 2023 with a full blockage of his circumflex artery. He was 44 years old and playing 5-a-side football in a local sports centre when he collapsed without warning. Thank goodness it happened there of all places however, as the swift actions of his team

PMR Flare
Dx Feb 2018 20mg Been OK on 3mg since January, testing out 2.5mg occasionally. it's my Nemesis but I'll get there eventually. However on 17th March I started taking statins (Pravastatin) as my cholesterol is raised (think GPs are on a mission with this at the moment)...all seemed OK for about 4 weeks

Beginning The journey, not quite sure why
Ok, we’ve all seen the adverts on Facebook asking for volunteers for people to join health tests/screenings etc. So I did one about two years ago on liver and found I had a fatty liver, which was moderate. Went back the next year and had got it down to mild. This year I saw one on lung cancer, they are

Help boosting thyroid without medication?
Hello all I have posted before as my thyroid function is poor but always comes back in range (my TSH never rises even with low levels) so no chance of medication on the NHS (other than statins for high cholesterol which I refuse). I did some recent tests TSH 1.95 (0.27-4.2) T4 14.6 (12-22) T3

My Angina Story - 2024
Hi - telling my story since I'm feeling a little confused and down, and wanted to share. Last year in 2023 I was diagnosed with high blood pressure (it's been a little high for past 20 years) but GP wanted to bring it down consistently so put onto Ramipril that did the job nicely. It was early Jan

Statin drugs with ITP
Because of high LDL I started taking a statin drug a couple of months ago. I was shocked to see my platelets dropped from about 112 to 90 in just a couple of months. Is anyone else on this list on statins, and did it affect your platelett levels?

Interaction between aspirin and pred.
By way of brief summary I have had PMR since 2020. Over that time I have flared four/five times on tapering to about 5mg. I am currently on 7/6.5mg on a slow taper. Last Saturday I received a letter from my cardiologist saying that parts of my heart are not receiving an adequate blood supply. That

starting statins and blood thinners
I just found out that I had a silent stroke in the past according to a recent MRA. I am starting a med that keeps platelets from sticking together and a statin. I am scared to death of the side effects. Any advice?

Cholesterol Help Please?
Doctor rang me a few minutes ago going on about my liver enzymes that are creeping up and my cholesterol, she said that was high at 7 and wanted to give me statins to which I refused point blank, I told her statins had almost disabled my brother until he managed to get off them. Then she said that must

Any suggestions for how to improve my poos
Hello all. My apologies for the title of this post, but I didn’t know how to phrase it. I was diagnosed with GCA in January 2023 and have been on Prednisone ever since, along with other meds that are given to mitigate the side effects of the Pred. I also started Methotrexate this January. My first attempt

Genetic Side-Effects
I thought I had escaped Statin side-effects until a post here made me realise the Achilles Heel problem I'd had for a long time was probably Statin-related. Telling my sister recently about my problems with Statins and Nustendi, which was prescribed as an alternative, she revealed that she'd had exactly

My cholesterol was always low until I went through the dreaded menopause which turned me upside down and inside out! My anxiety shot through the roof and my cholesterol with it! I’ve always been slim fit and healthy. Never smoked and drank minimal alcohol. My diet is very healthy. No red meat or processed

Micro vascular angina
Hi everyone . I’ve always been, what I considered, fit and healthy; a regular and keen runner - training for a half marathon, healthy eater and wonderful home life. Initially sent to hospital for hypertension crisis, other symptoms prevailed including breathlessness, chest discomfort, stomach and chest

Anyone else have Tendon Issues?
For 7.8 years, I have been taking Letrozole and Ibrance. Recently, an MRI showed that my right gluteus minimus tendon fully tore and retracted for no apparent reason. Because statins can be a factor, I immediately quit taking atorvastatin. I also found a study that claimed aromatase inhibitors can also
