Hello all,We have had some weeks now with our daughter back home after brain injury rehab unit. She got her brain swell in July last year. A scary time having her home again and not knowing what she was going to do. We have therapists coming to the home for 10 weeks which include neuro psychology, occ therapy, speech. We got through Christmas by meeting things very quiet and not involving too many people. She has started to realise and be aware of her behaviour. She will have bad days where she'll be quite hyperactive and disinhibited/ inappropriate but fortunately those days are beginning less and less. She still has trouble getting herself to shower as this seems like a big chore for her. She is however at times making her own breakfast which is a massive change. We are starting to see progress however we know it's still a long road ahead. Unfortunately her boyfriend of 2.5 years has stepped away. It was just too much for him. My heart aches for her but she's young at 22 and I pray good things are around the corner.

MRI shows brain swelling is gone however there is temporal lobe and basal ganglia scarring. Has anyone tried electro convulsive therapy or any alternative therapies like that?

Best wishes to you all for a positive day 🌷

I’m sorry about your daughter. She and your family are going through so much. I got sick when I was 24, and my then-boyfriend left as well. It might not make any sense now—any of it—but it will eventually, at least a little bit. I don’t hold anything against him for leaving. My family stayed. That’s what’s important.
