Another bout of PAF
As reported earlier, I had a lot of ectopics over the weekend. I took my usual Sotalol at 2045 and about 45 mins later went into PAF with Kardia showing over 100 bpm. Took another Sotalol and called an ambulance as discussed. Went back to rhythm by about 2330. Crew said it wa my choice whether to go

Sotalol and prolonged QT/TdP
Hi everyone ! Hope all is doing good or at least improving. Would like to find out from anyone here if you have experience with Sotalol and discovered later that you have to be put off it because of prolonged QT. If you have, would like to know how long after being on Sotalol that you discovered the

Sotalol
Has anyone had the same problems as me with 80mg twice per day of Sotalol and swapped to another Beta blocker. Side effects I am getting are aching legs that don’t to walk far. Feeling tired lethargic and quite depressed at times so going to seek advice after new year to see if there are any alternatives

All have similar side effects.
I’ve had just about all types of beta blockers and they all have similar side effects but the severity of these depends on the individual. Cold extremities is very common and a general slowing down of just about every function you can think of. I am currently on Sotalol for a ‘rate and rhythm’ disorder

AF or not?
I had a fairly stressful day yesterday and started to get lots of ectopics in the early evening. I decided to take my usual 2nd Sotalol of the day a bit early at 2030 and take a few Kardia readings. Some of these came back as normal with a bpm in the mid- seventies (my usual reading would be about 65

Sotalol 80mg twice per day
Since taking Sotalol it has brought my heart rate down to 60 to 70 Bpm and my heart rate is smooth and in Sinus. Has anyone had side effects with it as I seem to have more bad dreams and wake up feeling quite depressed which goes away after being up and awake a while ??

Sotalol and Milk
Does anyone know if Sotalol interact with milk or other daily product? I have read somewhere that it does but when I asked the pharmacist if there is anything (food) that I should not take with Sotalol she told me no. Thanks.

Meds Vs Ablation
Hi all, just an update. Went to see EP after having palpitations and being in AF even though I was on 80mg Sotalol x 2. Discussed with her on treatment plan. Agreed that we’ll see how it goes after she puts me on an increased dose of 120mg x 2. So far so good. If this does not seem to work we will

Aspartame
Would be interested to hear if anyone thinks there is a connection with aspartame and AF? Diagnosed 6 months ago and still symptomatic despite being on apixaban and Sotalol. Drink a well known diet drink (no alcohol,) in evenings and could this be a trigger? Any thoughts please?

Afib, palpitations and ectopics
I had an episode of PAF on Wednesday after drinking some beer. Yesterday I went to the same pub but had a large cup of tea instead of drinking any alcohol. Shortly after, I found that my heartbeat became heavier than usual and that I had more ectopics than usual. This persisted for an hour or so and

On Sotalol and Apixaban for PAF
I read on here that some folks are on Pill in The Pocket,; I went into Resus 18 months ago with severe AF, and stayed in hospital for a few days until my AF settled. I was prescribed Sotalol twice a day and following a consultant review was discharged to GP. I wonder why I am on drugs constantly rather

Liver Function and Bisoprolol.
I am in permanent AF and it does seem reasonably well controlled with 7.5mg of bisoprolol and a pacemaker. My blood test results for liver function have been relatively normal but for raised tryglicerides for which I am prescribed Pravastatin and Omacor concentrated fish oil tables. Liver function tests

From PAF to permanent? My worst Afib yet.
My worst Afib yet. Yesterday at about 6pm I had a bout of PAF. Heartbeat was iregular and just under 100bpm. Took an extra Sotalol as advised and went back to normal rhythm after a couple of hours or so. Went to bed at around midnight, and, after dozing off, woke with Afib, *again*. After another Sotalol

Side effects
hi, A quick question - have just had drugs changed (again) to 5mg Bisoprolol p.d. which has helped with the acute tiredness I had before whilst on Sotalol. But the breathlessness is through the stratosphere. Also itchy head scalp and skin. Are these common side effects? I agree with the person who said

EP appointment update
I saw my EP this morning who was really concerned about the dramas I’ve been having (for those who don’t know, I had an AFib & flutter ablation 3 1/2 weeks ago followed by a 3 night stay in hospital 2 weeks later when my EP was overseas). It seems I’m in the 1% club. He said about 25% of people have

Sotalol after ablation
I am sure the answers will vary from person to person, but, in general, were many of you eventually able to come off of your medications? I’m not talking about anticoagulants. I’m speaking of the anti-arrhythmia’s and/or the beta blockers, calcium blockers etc. My ablation is scheduled for October 24

Im having a cardio ablation on October 24th
So the one thing I’m worried about is that 4 days before the cardio ablation, I have to change from Sotalol to metropolol. I’m a little worried because a while back, my regular cardiologist told me that if I ever have to switch from Sotalol, I would have to do so with a hospital stay, Now I’m being switched

Home again
After a 3 night hospital stay I’m home again. My heart is still flipping in and out of AFib and Flutter but at a much lower rate. I’m now on Digoxin as well the maximum dose of Sotalol. I feel a bit zonked but I guess that is to be expected. The cardiologist said not to run any marathons this week (just
