I am sure the answers will vary from person to person, but, in general, were many of you eventually able to come off of your medications? I’m not talking about anticoagulants. I’m speaking of the anti-arrhythmia’s and/or the beta blockers, calcium blockers etc. My ablation is scheduled for October 24.

Sotalol after ablation
Eventually. It took me about eight months after my last ablation but not been on any drugs for AF now since 2008. For me it was a gradual process of reducing each week after six months. Most EPs want you to continue for three to six months to allow the heart to heal in peace.
I will never stop anticoagulants .
A lot depends on how your heart is functioning. If you are free from ectopics and palpitations this will improve the chances. Also, much depends on your BP because betablockers and calcium channel blockers reduce blood pressure so not good if coming of medication causes it to rise. If your doctor does eventually suggest reducing your medication, make sure you do it slowly and over a good period of time........good luck for the 24th!
Thank you so much. Well, actually when I was wearing a halter monitor it showed that in 24 hours I had 72 irregular beats. However I didn’t feel any of them. Also I was taking BP meds before my afib was discovered 10 yrs ago but I’m hoping my 80lb weight-loss will improve that.
I came off all drugs after my EP appointment which was scheduled for 3 months after my AF ablation but in my case delayed a few weeks.
Yes I am actually taking my last dose of stolatol today!!! Hopefully everything stays normal.
yes, about 13 months post ablation I came off the beta blocker
