Hi everyone ! Hope all is doing good or at least improving. Would like to find out from anyone here if you have experience with Sotalol and discovered later that you have to be put off it because of prolonged QT. If you have, would like to know how long after being on Sotalol that you discovered the Prolonged QT and what was the management like for your AFib after that? Also has anyone heard of anybody who had TdP that’s caused by Sotalol? Thank you.

Sotalol and prolonged QT/TdP
For the last five or more year Sotalol has not been approved for AF treatment here in UK so although some EPs have been known to use it widespread use would be unlikely. Now you know why!
I was put on sotalol after a visit to A+E by the doctor there. I was kept in whilst starting to take it because of the problems it can cause.
I was only on it for a week, when my EP found out that I had been changed from bisoprolol to sotalol by this Doctor he went ballistic
What are Prolonged QT and Tdp? I have been on Sotalol for 2 years now.
I have been on Sotalol for about 10 months with no problems. I had my cardiac ablation about 2 months ago and see my ET this week. He plans to take me off of this and the Xarelto if all checks out. My ablation was very successful and a I am happy with medications and ablation.
On sotalol ... for two years ... not one issue.
Also on sotalol for nearly two years and no problems. NICE guidelines updated December 2018. It can cause prolonged QT interval and I have regular ecgs to monitor this,
Sotalol is back in favour with NICE. The ecg monitor for QT is usually when there is a suspected AF breakthrough but yearly at maximum.
