Is it PSA recurrence or not...
My friend had a radical prostatectomy a year ago. Since then his monthly PSA results were stable, at 0.006 3 months ago his PSA went from 0.006 to 0.012, then the next month to 0.029. His MO wanted to see the third month's results in order to consider salvage radiation therapy. Luckily, third month's

Mortality Probability after first PSA rise vs non-castrate testosterone levels (low vs Normal)
Here's a plot from Atkins (2018) that shows the Percent risk of Prostate Cancer-specific Mortality versus time following a first PSA failure, for two different non-castrate testosterone levels (Low-T and Normal-T). The low testosterone levels are: median = 162, range = 120-236 ng/dL. Normal T is 400

PSA Score Doubling / Lab Error?
Hey folks I was diagnosed back in 2017 with 3+3, later upgraded to 3+4, but with less then 5% of G4. 3mm nodule on Cardiac CT scan
On a Cardiac CT scan for my husband his internist (Not from MSK) found a nodule. This is what the impression said: "Stable 3 mm nodule in the left upper lobe, probably an impacted small airway or benign lymph node. Recommend follow-up per clinical/oncologic protocol in this patient with reported prostate

PSA reduction after Estrogen Patch Therapy
Here's a revised plot of PSA reduction due to castration from Estrogen Patch therapy. The previous version had the wrong time scale. That has been corrected in this version. The total time is 3 months, after which the PSA and testosterone both flatten out versus time. I've also added the reference

I think we knew this - PSMA-Pet superior to MRI
PSMA PET Beats MRI in Prostate Cancer Staging Study https://www.medpagetoday.com/hematologyoncology/prostatecancer/110931 The article is basically about using PSMA-PET to plan surgical procedures more accurately, but the study has a secondary result in - that PSMA-PET found a very significant percentage

PSA drop with decreasing Testosterone after Estrogen Patch Therapy
Here's a plot that I made from data taken from the PATCH estrogen patch therapy study. It plots the % reduction in PSA from baseline (100%) at time = 0 as a function of testosterone levels over a period of 4 weeks. As you know, estrogen effectively castrates men, causing a drop in testosterone over
