THC/Marijuana: Why/how does it work for PD?
I live in the US in a no-marijuana state but only 5 minutes from a recreational-legal state. I usually go to my sister's house (in the legal state) at bedtime, grab an edible, then head home to sleep (it takes about an hour to kick in). Without THC, I barely sleep at all. It takes 4-5 hours to fall

Started Sinemet and my hair is falling out, switching to mucuna
Editing to add that I've also had dry and uncomfortable eyes and unusually blurry vision since starting Sinemet. Yuck! I have been diagnosed with EBMD, but that doesn't show up overnight, and the eye issues started within hours of the first Sinemet pill I took. ***************************************

WELL.....Crap!
I hoped Manganese poisoning might explain the tremor. But the blood test says manganese levels are normal. Then I had the DAT scan. Findings: Reduced uptake of the tracer throughout the striata, consistent with loss of dopaminergic terminals and confirming idiopathic Parkinson's Disease.

DBS for Parkinsons
Need a little info on the DBS surgery for Parkinson’s. Doc says our daughter has reached the limit for the Sinemet dosage and is beginning g to show signs of needing more help. The only thing left is DBS. She’s not worried about the actual surgery but the cost since her insurance won’t cover very much

Doing better without Carbidopa/Levodopa...??
My husbands Sinemet was slowly increased to 1200 mg per day since his Dx 3 yrs. ago. He was a mess with this high dose. He was falling asleep mid sentence. He had no motivation to do anything. . It did not improve his main symptoms (balance issues, low voice, stiffness, shuffling and feeling “stuck”

In Defense of Medication
When I was diagnosed three years ago, I was determined to do everything in my power to stay off medication for as long as possible. As we all know, there isn't any medication which slows or stops the progression of Parkinson's and long term use often leads to troubling side effects like dyskinesia.

Not so detailed as Marc, but here is my fellings. After the surgery i was like new. No tremor, no dysknesia, no dystonia, no slowness. Quandary!
After 5 years, my new pharmacist tells me that the Sinemet I take for my Parkinson's, destroys the effectiveness of my Metformin that I take for my type 2 diabetes (A1C 7.7) and now they want to double my Sinemet to work on my right hand tremor that is the only visible vestige of the Parkinson's. I

SOB Shortness off breathe.Anyone have experience with this phenomenon?
Hello. I have a new problem that is bothersome and I would be very grateful if anyone has experience with this and what was tried to deal with the problem. I have reduced the sinemet dose by about 20% now and think it has helped somewhat but have only been talking for a week so early to comment. So,

Arguing with doctors?
So I have a recheck appt with the neuro in two days. My wife says the doctor will redouble her efforts to get me on Sinemet. My argument is it makes me feel dizzy and unfocussed. It takes away any desire to exercise. I found old videos of me that show the tremor was there in June, 2017.

Dopaboost
I can't find the reference but someone here said that one capsule of Dopaboost is a direct equivilent to one 25/100 Sinemet? How do you come up with that? Dopaboost has 425 mg of mucuna at 60%. Please help.

Now what?
Three years ago I developed a tremor in my dominant arm. At the same time I developed a Deep Vein Thrombosis in the same arm. Then a 100% obstruction of the LAD coronary branch. The LAD is also known as the widow maker. A stent plus drugs cleared all that up but nothing has helped get rid of

Update on Sinemet Nausea and Fatigue
I originally posted on this topic about 2 weeks ago (post copied below). I finally got in touch with my MDS at Northwestern in Chicago regarding this issue. His solution was to add an additional 25 mg carbidopa (take one with each CL 25/100). It took a while for the pharmacy to fill the Rx, so I just

The importance of vitamin B6 against Parkinson's. The end of a meaningless prejudice since 1975.

Surviving RLS when on bedrest
I’m struggling so badly with RLS at the same time as experiencing knee arthritis flare up awaiting knee replacement. It’s maddening to be told to elevate your leg and ice it when you can’t lay still for just a few minutes. And that standing up is only relief and it’s too painful to stand. My neurologist
