Ezetimibe?
Anybody have any thoughts on this alternative to a statin? So far, after doing a little research, it seems even worse than the statin? Narrows the arteries, interacts badly with statins if the two are taken together. Seems to have a negative impact on the liver. BTW, it has the same stuff they use in

Simvastatin and pred
Piglette you mentioned that simvastin and pred are an ill advised combination. Is there another statin that could be taken. My Rheumy advised me to go back on simvastatin because my cholesterol is 7.8. I had started taking plant sterols to reduce it but she said they don't really work. Any advice would

Over the last 2 years since having a heart attack and one stent implanted I've had 2 different statins simvastatin Lipitor and currently Pravastatin all in turn have had an effect of causing me to have nightmares and odd dreams are all statins likely to have this side effect? or is there one which doesn't

Can anyone help got some blood results but struggling to get any help!
Hi, I saw a locum doctor at my GP practice (over year and half ago) who diagnosed under-active thyroid as I had 3 blood tests which were under the lower level slightly. Since then I have had to argue to get blood test and asked for full thyroid test but given me the results just for TSH, she also did

Having strong muscular pain and weakness primarily in legs and hips.
Went to see my MD on July 29, 2015 after suffering for about 2 weeks with increasing muscular pains and weakness in legs. He stated because the muscles involved were large that it might be a reaction to taking Simvastatin. I have been taking it for about 8 years and never had a problem before.

Fainting and statins?
I have been on 20mg simvastatin for two years with no side effects when, out of the blue, this morning I fainted for no apparent reason. Am wondering if I should mention it to my GP?

Muscle pains
At the age of 17 (now 31) I was diagnosed with Familial Hypercholesterolemia and had genetic testing to prove this. Cholesterol levels were 11.7 mmol. Started simvastatin at 20mg, cholesterol did not lower. Increased to 40mg and slight alteration but severe muscle pains. So bad i couldnt get out of bed

Ground hog day
Here I am again, every night I take=Zoplicone,Amitriptyline,Sertraline Simvastatin and of course pain killers. And every nite I might be lucky to get 2 hours. Exhausted, fatigued and fed up. Will all start again tomorrow nite just like past 3 months. See GROUND HOG Day.

Cholesterol con and more
Hi there, just back after a few weeks of reading the Cholesterol Con book; although I really enjoyed reading the book and I feel that he has a lot of common sense and relative truths in his favor, however I'm still anxious about not doing anything to lower the LDL levels. So having seen a heart specialist

Atorvastatin
I have recently had my meds changed from Simvastatin to Atorvastatin. About this time I started with very acute pain in the lower part of my body - from my hips down my legs into my feet. This pain is so bad that I find walking very difficult, cannot exercise and find sleep almost impossible. I believe

A recent blood test (for something other than my AF) shows I have a high cholesterol of 7.5. I explained to the GP that I have always been high as other members of my family are too. He explained the risks if I don't take statins and prescribed 'simvastatin' ........... just looked at the more common

HUK conference at Hatfield this year.
Below is the content of my email to HUK, CEO: I went to last year’s HUK conference in Warwick and saw the benefit of attending the UHK conference and also planning to attend this year’s conference in Hatfield. I found it was difficult to ask questions due to time factor therefore want to send a list
